C919 aircraft arrived in Nanchang for test flight during the Lunar New Year

It is understood that 106 C919 large passenger aircraft successfully completed the last taxiing task of the special water splash test at Yaohu Airport a few days ago, and completed the "compulsory course" of the new aircraft. The successful completion of the test marks a new breakthrough in the development of C919.

The purpose of the water splash test is to verify the ability of the new aircraft to operate on a large number of water-filled runways, and to ensure that the water splashed from the bottom of the aircraft or the nose gear during taxiing will not enter the aircraft’s engine and auxiliary power unit. A test subject that must be completed before a civil aircraft is delivered to operation.

To complete this experiment, the challenge is not small. In order to do a good job in guarantee work, Nanchang High-tech Zone coordinated the flight test station, Hongdu, COMAC and other related units and arranged detailed work plans. On 3 January, 106 of the C919 large passenger plane began its first splash-adaptive taxiing, and all tests were completed on 30 January.

Through the special water splash test, the staff verified the functional performance and working status of the C919 aircraft engine, APU, air data system, environmental control system, and airframe structure on the water runway, and obtained the additional resistance of the aircraft splash and the water ski speed to create necessary conditions for aircraft operations under complex weather conditions.

After the C919 officially entered Yaohu Airport on 5 December 2019, Nanchang High-tech Zone has been escorting the C919 test flight from the test run to the taxi test, its debut at the dynamic air show, and the completion of the special water splash test.
