Cathay Pacific provides free covid travel insurance to allow passengers to travel confidently

Cathay Pacific Airways and AXA Insurance Co., Ltd. ("AXA") cooperate to provide all Cathay Pacific passengers with free insurance protection covering covid medical treatment, so that they can be more assured when traveling.

From 7 December 2020 to 28 February 2021, passengers on all Cathay Pacific flights will receive free additional protection, covering medical expenses for the diagnosis and treatment of covid during the overseas period. Passengers who book any Cathay Pacific flight during this period can automatically get this free guarantee.

The coverage includes:

Medical and hospital expenses

If passengers must undergo covid polymerase chain reaction testing and be hospitalized, the required medical expenses will be covered, with a maximum coverage of US$200,000.

Quarantine allowance

Passengers who need to undergo mandatory quarantine due to covid can receive a quarantine allowance of US$100 per person per day for up to 14 days to help respond to emergencies.

Evacuation and repatriation

Cathay Pacific will pick up the affected passengers, travelling companions and children back to their original places of residence.

24-hour emergency service consultation hotline

Cathay Pacific will provide assistance at any time. Passengers only need to call AXA's 24-hour emergency service hotline +85228635785 or send a WhatsApp message to +85228635784.

The coverage of this insurance is valid for 30 days, starting from the passenger’s departure date and until returning to the place of origin, whichever is earlier.

Cathay Pacific Escort

Safety is the first consideration. Cathay Pacific has also introduced a series of enhanced measures called "Cathay Pacific Escort" to take care of every detail of passengers from check-in to boarding, making travel more secure. Measures include:

Body temperature detection

Zero-touch check-in and boarding arrangements

Apply antibacterial coatings on boarding booths and other passenger facilities

Require passengers and crew to wear masks during the entire voyage

Strengthen the cleaning and disinfection of the surface of all objects using high-efficiency particulate air filtration system (HEPA), effectively filtering 99.999% of suspended pollutants in the air.
