There are 21 more deaths in Taiwan on 4 June 2021, and a total of 187 people have been diagnosed. Many of the current sudden deaths surface during home isolation and are in a "silent hypoxia" (happy hypoxia) state. This has caused a panic buying wave of blood oxygen machines. For this reason, Guo Yanliang, a physician at the General Hospital of the Three Armed Forces, taught a trick that can be easily applied at home.
The way to observe if one has happy hypoxia is by checking your nail colour. If the nail turns purple, see the doctor as soon as possible.

"Silent hypoxia" or happy hypoxia often appears in critically ill patients. It is one of the symptoms before respiratory failure. Usually, the blood vessels in the body will constrict, allowing blood to flow into the lungs and fill with gas. The part of the blood flow that lacks oxygen reduces the blood flow in the hypoxic part. However, the protection mechanism of the covid patient may be abnormal. Covi will cause the oxygen movement in the lungs to be inconsistent with the blood flow, causing more blood to flow to the damaged parts of the lungs. On the contrary, less blood flows to healthy parts, causing happy hypoxia to gradually occur, and no pain is felt, and it is difficult to detect.
As there have been many sudden deaths due to happy hypoxia in Taiwan recently, the public has been rushing to buy blood oxygen machines. Dr Guo Yanliang taught that people can relax at home without spending money.
Dr Guo says the method of observing blood oxygen is "unscientific and sometimes the most scientific." He pointed out that if you want to know whether there is hypoxia, you can pick up your own hand, or gently pull the other's hand to observe the nail carefully.
If the person's nail appears pink, the blood oxygen concentration is more than 90%. If it appears purple, the person must be sent to the doctor as soon as possible.
In addition, note that when the nail is pressed down, it will temporarily turn white. If it returns to pink within 2 seconds, it means that the circulation is good. If it is let go, it will not or slowly turn red. It represents bad circulation.

The blood oxygen concentration of the average person falls between 95% and 100%. If it is below 94%, it is considered hypoxemia. If it is less than 90%, you must seek medical treatment immediately, and the organs below 80% will be severely affected.
Guo Yanliang recommends people not necessary to buy blood oxygen machines. Maybe they are not available. He believes the user will leave it aside after buying and playing it a few times. It is not easy to find one. Just learn the above method which is convenient and practical.
