U.S. Democratic vice presidential candidate and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has been involved in a love affair. The daughter of a senior Chinese Communist Party official recently revealed to the media that the two developed an underground love affair in China in 1989. Tim Walz once hinted at a marriage promise but eventually reneged on it, causing her to have thoughts of committing suicide. The exposure of this past incident may cast doubt on Walz's campaign.

Jenna Wang, now 59 years old, revealed in an exclusive interview with the British Daily Mail that in 1989, when she was 24 years old, she was teaching at the No. 8 Middle School in Foshan, Guangdong Province. She attended an English lecture and met the 25-year-old No. 1 student in Foshan, Tim Walz, who taught in high school. At that time, Walz took off her headphones and softly praised her as "very beautiful," and the two began a secret romance.

Jenna’s father, Bin Hui (transliteration), is a high-ranking cadre of the Chinese Communist Party and serves as the chairman of the Guilin Labour Union. In the conservative social atmosphere of the time, it was taboo to interact with Westerners, so the relationship between the two could not be made public.

"We couldn't hold hands or kiss in public," Jenna recalled, "which only made the relationship more intense when we were alone." The two often date in Walz's teacher dormitory, drinking tea and listening to George Michael's "Careless Whisper" as they develop an intimate relationship. Walz, who travels to Hong Kong or Macau on weekends, often brings back Western luxury goods such as jeans, Ray-Ban sunglasses and jewelry as gifts to Jenna.

This relationship continues to develop during Watts' return to the United States. Jenna said that Walz not only vividly describes life in Nebraska in the letter, but also asks her to send her passport photos to an address in the United States, implying that he would help her apply for a visa. "I believe we will get married and have a family," Jenna said.

However, after Walz returned to China in 1992, their relationship took a turn for the worse. During a trip to southern China, Walz's public intimacy made Jenna uneasy. When she asked about future plans on Hainan Island, Walz retorted that she just wanted a U.S. passport. "It made me feel insulted, like I was being treated like a whore," Jenna said. "I didn't give up my job to go to this cold place in Nebraska. I gave up my job to be with him."

The relationship eventually ends with Jenna leaving, and she once had thoughts of committing suicide. Walz married another teacher, Gwen Whipple, in 1994. The last time the two contacted each other was in 2009, when they exchanged brief updates on Facebook.

Jenna said that she chose to disclose this past incident at this time because Walz's repeated remarks on issues such as the Tiananmen Incident showed that his integrity was lacking. "At this critical moment, such a person does not appear to have the character required to hold one of the most important offices in the world," she said.

The Walz campaign has yet to respond to these accusations.
