A number of Chinese and Taiwanese media reported on 26 November 2020 that Taiwan's China Airlines, which was forced to change its name, had released the latest paintwork but the new livery is not final. Not only did the English name "CHINA AIRLINES" was moved to near the end of the aircraft, the font was also reduced.
Lin Jialong, the person in charge of Taiwan’s transportation department, went to Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan for an interview on 26 November 2020. He claimed that China Airlines had purchased seven Boeing 777F freighters and was currently in the flight test stage. As for the painting part, there is still space reserved for the image of Taiwan in the future. As it appeared on the new aircraft, the font of "CHINA AIRLINES" is reduced first. After the new painting livery design is completed, China Airlines will officially explain to the public.
Earlier this year, when Taiwan donated masks to Europe, because China Airlines had "CHINA" in its English name "CHINA AIRLINES", the DPP authorities were dissatisfied and asked China Airlines to review the painting. The head of Taiwan’s administrative agency, Su Zhenchang, claimed in an interview on 14 April that the world thanked Taiwan for the delivery of supplies by China Airlines. However, because China Airlines was marked with "CHINA" on its fuselage, people in many countries mistakenly believed that it was Mainland China. "We suffer a lot from this kind of loss." At that time, China Airlines stated that it was considered difficult to change the name after discussion, and it could give priority to the new aircraft that is about to be leased or purchased, and use colour printers to increase Taiwan's identification.
On 22 July 2020, the DPP caucus put forward another proposal, suggesting that Taiwan’s transportation department should develop a China Airlines rectification plan. They proposed to add “TAIWAN” or a design with Taiwan’s image to the fuselage in the early stage, and discuss with various units to make changes. Various possibilities for English translation or direct name change. At that time, the legislature of the DPP authorities voted according to the resolution proposed by the DPP caucus and passed with 64 affirmative votes. All members of the KMT did not attend the vote.
