Israel officially entered the second nationwide lockdown at 2 pm on Friday (18 September 2020), for a period of three weeks, during Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year). Today is Sabbath, the seventh day of the calendar week and is the first day of the second Israeli lockdown.
In the past week in Israel, there were more than 5,000 new cases in a single day, and the authorities frankly said it was a mistake to lift the restrictions too early.
Currently, Israel, with a population of 9 million, has more than 176,000 infections and 1,169 deaths. The unemployment rate exceeds 20%, and the total blockade seriously affects the economy.
