According to Qatar media Al Jazeera, independent Chinese media Sound of Hope and netizens' tweets, at 10 pm on 14 September 2020, Ruili, a city in Yunnan Province suddenly announced lockdown of the city. All urban residents in the city were isolated at home for one week, and all staff were immediately implemented. Nucleic acid amplification testing were carried out. China-Myanmar border prevention and control have been strengthened to prevent illegal immigrants. On the same day, Yunnan Province announced that the 8 border states (cities) and 25 border counties (cities) of Yunnan would immediately enter the wartime state of epidemic prevention!
According to local media reports, on 3 September, a 32-year-old Myanmar woman, a Ms Yang Zuomou, smuggled 3 children and 2 babysitters into Ruili from Myanmar and temporarily stayed at the home of her sister Yang Gui in Aoxing Century Community, Ruili City. On 13 September, Ms Yang, her nanny, and 16-year-old Yimou were diagnosed with covid cases. All 190 close contacts have been quarantined. The authorities said that all residents in the closed Aoxing Century Community had been tested for nucleic acid, and all 1,185 were negative.
The authorities announced that all residents in Ruili City will be tested for nucleic acid at the cost of the government.
Netizens ridiculed, "Xi Jinping's anti-epidemic commendation meeting has just ended, and Ruili has closed the city there."
The video posted by netizens shows that Ruili has begun to lock down the city and no one can enter or leave. Residents in Ruili City are waiting in long lines for nucleic acid testing. All residents were required to stay at home for one week.
Some netizens also questioned, "Only two foreigners have moved in. So do they need to close the city like this?"
Netizens disclosed that on 7 September, a traveller in a Yunnan airport collapsed suddenly on the ground and was suspected of having a cytokin storm. Netizens suspect that the epidemic in Yunnan Province may have been very serious.
Ruili classified the two covid cases as imported although the cases only developed covid symptoms on 13 September locally. The local health commission has not reported the matters to the National Health Commission. Therefore, the covid tally of the People's Republic of China on 14 September 2020 is not accurate.
