Air filter on Vietnam Airlines aircraft to minimize virus spread

Press Release : Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles

In order to ensure the air quality aboard always safe and hygienic, all aircraft of Vietnam Airlines’ fleet are equipped with the High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) system from manufacturers Boeing and Airbus, which helps minimize the risk of spreading bacteria and viruses on each flight.

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the HEPA system equipped aboard operates similar to the air cleaning system in surgery rooms. The World Health Organization (WHO) also reaffirmed that the use of HEPA on commercial aircraft helps minimize the spread of micro-organisms in the cabin.

As part of the efforts to enhance safety, hygiene and health of passengers, labourers as the COVID-19 epidemic progresses, Vietnam Airlines has proactively been carrying out various measures such as disinfecting aircraft arriving from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Bangkok in Vietnam; flight attendants taking note of the passengers who demonstrate signs of abnormal health; adjusting cockpit and cabin temperature to 26 degrees Celsius; limiting the provision of meals, drinks, pillows, blankets, towels aboard…

Passengers should proactively take precaution for themselves when arriving at the airport and getting aboard. In addition, to limit contact at the airport through ground services, passengers can check-in via the website www.vietnamairlines.com, Vietnam Airlines mobile app or airport-based kiosk. Besides, passengers can also call 1900 6265 or come to downtown offices in Hanoi and Da Nang to complete the check-in formality.
