A recent paper published by Zhong Nanshan's team, an expert within the CCP system, states that the longest incubation period for pneumonia patients in Wuhan is 24 days. However, Shanxi officially announced on Sunday that an infected villager returned home from Wuhan, and went to the county hospital 40 days after leaving Wuhan.

A paper published on the medical preprinted platform medRvix by Zhong Nanshan's team on 10 February 2020 stated that by studying 1099 confirmed samples before 29 January, only 43.8 per cent of patients with the novel coronavirus will develop fever early.

The paper also states that the virus's incubation period is as short as 0 days, as long as 24 days, and the median is 3 days.

However, the official website of the Shanxi Jinzhong Health Committee of the Communist Party of China reported on  9 February 2020 that a local patient was admitted to the county hospital 40 days after leaving Wuhan, and was diagnosed two days after admission.

The report showed that the patient was a 65-year-old woman living in Sujiabao Village, Dujiazhuang Township, Pingyao County. On 25 December 2019, she returned to Taiyuan from Wuhan by plane, and took a taxi to Pingyao on 26 December. On 1 January  2020, she returned to her home in Sujiabao Village by private car. On 3 February 2020 she was admitted to  the county hospital for treatment, and the diagnosis was confirmed on 5 February.

As the epidemic continued to spread, the CCP was forced to "squeeze toothpaste" to announce the truth little by little. Earlier, Chinese experts claimed that the incubation period was up to 14 days. An official report appeared of a suspected 23-day incubation period, which aroused public concern, but the Communist officials immediately began to "remove rumours."
