In order to minimize the risk of the novel coronavirus spread, while ensuring passengers and employees stay healthy, Vietnam Airlines carries out the following changes to both ground and inflight services.

Sanitation, disinfection: Vietnam Airlines disinfects all aircraft after inbound flights from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Bangkok to Vietnam. All the staff is equipped with masks, medical gloves, knowledge of novel coronavirus prevention, the ways to wash hands and to ensure hygiene and safety in line with Health Ministry standards.

Inflight service: Vietnam Airlines will change many inflight services to maximize protection and ensure passengers’ health and safety.

Accordingly, the airline temporarily suspends meals for all flights of less than 2 hours and 30 minutes, serving only bottled spring water and packaged snacks for passengers who request it to limit contact with reusable items.

For other items, Vietnam Airlines will switch to providing aromatic paper tissues instead of cotton towels on all flights; pillows will not be available while blankets are provided in case when passengers require medical assistance on the flights with duration of less than 4 hours.

In order to limit the conditions for novel coronavirus to thrive, Vietnam Airlines now maintains the cabin temperature at 26 degrees Celsius throughout the flight time on all flights as medical experts say novel coronavirus would weaken at temperature over 25 degrees Celsius.

Lotus Lounge services: Vietnam Airlines steps up the supply of hand sanitizer in many convenient places such as doors, reception desks, toilets as well as ensuring lids in place for food trays at the buffet bar, and disposable tools provided, such as knives, spoons, forks, paper cups etc. Equipment in the living room is cleaned and disinfected regularly, at frequency of every hour.

Vietnam Airlines continues to closely monitor the complicated movements of novel coronavirus so as to ensure readiness and proactively take appropriate actions.
