The source of COVID-19 has been questioned, and public opinion is beginning to focus on "patient zero." To this end, the BBC tracked down the "first patient" declared in a China Communist Party (CCP) expert paper. Chinese experts said he was a 70-year-old man who had been paralyzed at home for a long time, but they refused to answer whether the old man had any family members associated with the Wuhan Huanan Seafood Market or Wuhan Virus.

A few days ago, "Zero Patient No. 0" was a female employee of Wuhan Institute of Virology but the institute denied it. The British media BBC turned its attention to a paper published by Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital expert on 24 January in the international authoritative medical journal "The Lancet". The paper mentioned that the onset time of the first patient in Wuhan was 1 December  2019, which was 7 days earlier than the first case reported by the Wuhan Health and Medical Commission.

One of the authors of the paper, Wu Wenjuan, Director of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Jinyintan Hospital, told the BBC that the patient who developed the disease on 1 December was a 70-year-old man with cerebral infarction and dementia. At that time, the doctor came to the conclusion of his onset of disease on 1 December through epidemiological investigation and comprehensive family recall.

A patient who has been paralyzed for a long time at home becomes the first case of infection with covid, which is inevitably suspect. BBC reporters asked whether there are other infection channels besides the seafood market. Wu Wenjuan replied that this is "the direction of our next research." The reporter further asked if the relative had any relatives related to the Wuhan Institute of Virology or the Wuhan Huanan Seafood Market. Wu Wenjuan continued to evade, saying that "it is impossible to draw conclusions".

At present, the CCP officials still say that the wildlife in the South China seafood market is the source of the virus. But China media's "Caixin.com" has cited the above-mentioned paper to deny the claim. At the same time, many experts at home and abroad have studied the novel coronavirus sequence published by the CCP and found that the virus has many obvious characteristics of manual intervention. Therefore, public opinion generally points to Wuhan Institute of Virology. Israeli intelligence experts have accused the institute of participating in the development of CCP's biological weapons.

U.S. lawmakers and senior White House officials have publicly questioned the source of the virus. The White House also ordered the world's top experts to trace the root cause of the virus. So far, the CCP has refused entry of American experts to help prevent and control the epidemic.

In the face of international media's skepticism, the CCP currently has two types of public opinion orientation. On one hand, officials continue to emphasize that the virus comes from bats, the other is CCP's conspiracy claim that the virus was the "bioweapon of either the US or Japan".

According to China media, as early as late January, the CCP military biochemical weapon experts have taken over the P4 laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Recently, Xi Jinping publicly emphasized "national biosafety" and demanded that the "Biosafety Law" be expedited. Subsequently, the Communist Party Science and Technology Newspaper ordered the strengthening of virus laboratory management.
