The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced on 22 February 2020 that a male employee in his 60s working for a geriatric health facility in Tokyo has been infected with covid.

The man lives in Tokyo and has a cold-like symptom on 12 February. He went to a medical institution, but returned home because he was not diagnosed with pneumonia, and went to work at a geriatric health facility the next day.

After spending 14 days at home, he flew to Indonesia with his family on 15 February 2020.

He has been hospitalized at a medical facility in Tokyo since he returned to Japan on 19 February 2020. His condition is severe.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is conducting a thorough investigation of the route of transmission, as well as any close contacts, including those in nursing homes for men.

As a result, 29 patients in Tokyo have been confirmed infected with covid.
