South Korea has 433 confirmed covid cases as of 22 February 2020

Major online ticketing agency Trip said that it is in process of amending its refund policy to refund airlines' tickets in full to customers who have purchased air tickets of South Korean airlines before 19 February 2020 for travel after 22 February 2020 past June 2020.

As of 4 pm on 22 February 2020, an additional 87 confirmed cases were added. The cumulative number of confirmed covid cases in South Korea has reached 433, of which two patients have died. All 87 confirmed cases have been diagnosed in the country.

The newly added 87 patients include 55 in Daegu, 14 in Gyeongbuk, 5 in Gangwon-do, 4 in Gyeonggi-do, 3 in Seoul, 2 in Gwangju, 1 in Daejeon, 1 in Busan, 1 in Ulsan, and 1 in Jeollanam. Among them, 62 people are related to Shincheonji Church, and 3 patients are related to Danam Hospital in Cheongdo-gun.

The Disease Management Division stated earlier that 142 new cases of covid were confirmed, of which 92 were related to Danam Hospital in Cheongdo-gun, South Gyeongsangbuk-do, and the total number of confirmed cases increased to 346 on 21 February, showing that the country is now an epidemic area. 

At present, other than the severest epidemic centre of Wuhan, there are 634 cases for the Diamond Princess cruise ship while the second country to have the highest number of covid patients is South Korea at 433 cases in South Korea, and there are 122 confirmed cases in Japan excluding Diamond Princess.

On 21 February, there were 100 new cases in South Korea, and Daegu City and Gyeongsangbuk-do Cheongdo-gun are listed as special infectious disease management areas.

On 20 February, South Korean authorities announced in the morning that COVID-19 has been out of the control of the epidemic prevention network and entered the community transmission stage. Memory chip manufacturer, SK Hynix, confirmed that a new employee had been in close contact with patients diagnosed with covid, so it expanded the requirement for more than 800 employees to return home for isolation.
