The novel coronavirus (covid)  pandemic rages. The CCP Chongqing Municipal Health Commission confirmed on 13 February 2020 that there are two cases of "fourth-generation infection" in Chongqing for the first time. This shows that covid virus (covi) is constantly mutating and it is getting difficult to prevent cure.

The Liberty Times reported on 15 February that the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission confirmed on 13 February among the new cases in the city, the proportion of "third-generation infections" increased significantly, and even two "fourth-generation infections" cases were found for the first time in the city. It is shown that the covid not only has the ability to continuously transmit from person to person, but the extension of the infection chain will further increase the difficulty of epidemic prevention.

Third-generation infections refer to those who have not been to Wuhan. Fourth-generation infections refer to patients who have been infected by "third-generation infections."

On 14 February 2020, a Nanning doctor's internal report was circulated on the Internet, revealing that the covi is constantly mutating. Patients may not be cured as they could be infected again!

Relevant mainland researchers found that the covi is an RNA virus that often mutates, but most of the mutations do not change the amino acid sequence and have little effect on the virus.

China Business News reported that the Shanghai Pasteur Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences published a paper in the National Science Review, confirming that after analyzing some cases of family infections in Guangdong province, researchers found that the amino acid had changed when the virus spread in the family. However, it is uncertain whether the toxicity is enhanced.

In addition to the risk of accelerated infection, virus mutations may also make epidemic prevention more difficult.

Vincent Enouf, director of the French Institute of Pasteur's Microbial Mutual Assistance Platform (P2M) and deputy director of the National Influenza Center, said no one can predict how far the virus will mutate.

Liang Zhuowei, dean of the Li Ka-shing School of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong, said that covid is "more cunning" because SARS patients will develop symptoms on the first day. It takes 7 to 10 days for the virus to increase transmission, but covid can spread in the early stages.
