Wang Xijiang, Deputy Director of the Xinjiang Kashgar Prefecture Center for Disease Control and Prevention, notified in the evening of 3 November 2020 that as of 8.30 pm on 3 November, two new confirmed cases in Kashgar and 116 new cases of asymptomatic infections, all of whom are under quarantine medical observation, are related to Zhanmin Township, Shufu County. As of 8.30 pm on 3 November, there are currently 64 confirmed cases in Kashgar and 330 asymptomatic infections.
In the evening of 3 November, the Information Office of the People's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region held an eighth press conference to inform the latest new crown pneumonia epidemic and epidemic prevention and control work in Shufu County and Akto County of Xinjiang.
Wang Xijiang said that according to the law of transmission of SARS-CoV-2, there is a certain time interval from when the virus is infected to when it can be detected. In order to ensure the health and safety of people of all ethnic groups in the region, Kashgar has further increased the intensity and frequency of nucleic acid testing. As of 6 pm on 3 November, the third round of free nucleic acid testing for all employees has been completed. Except for the screening of 116 people associated with Zhanmin Township, Shufu County from the quarantine medical observers, the rest are all negative.
Wang also said that all the newly discovered asymptomatic infections came from isolated medical observers. Asymptomatic infections have no obvious clinical symptoms during the incubation period. Nucleic acid testing is the "gold standard" for confirming infections, and it is also the most important method for detecting and identifying asymptomatic infections. It is based on a highly responsible attitude to the people of all ethnic groups. To control the epidemic as soon as possible, Kashgar will start the fourth round of free nucleic acid testing for all employees in Shufu County on 4 November.
