Himalaya Airlines' test flight to Lhasa on 19 January 2021 in preparation for summer scheduled flights

Himalaya Airlines has conducted its first A319 test flight to Lhasa from Kathmandu on 19 January 2021, in preparation for its summer scheduled flights to the capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, China, in 2021. The airline will be the first foreign airline to launch scheduled flights to Lhasa during the pandemic.

Mr. Zhou Enyong, the President of Himalaya Airlines, commented on the successful test flight, “Himalaya team has been meticulously working on this high altitude operation to Lhasa since last year. Today’s test flight take off, has reinforced commitment to our key guiding principles of safety, team spirit and winning spirit. I would like to congratulate our team for the successful operation of validation flight and we are grateful to receive the support of civil aviation authorities of both the countries which has enabled us to carry out this mission effortlessly.”

Himalaya Airlines currently has scheduled flights from Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur, Dhaka, Doha, Dammam, Chongqing, Daxing and Abu Dhabi while charter flights of Himalaya Airlines have brought Nepalis back from Riyadh (16 July 2020), Singapore (24 July 2020) and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (15 January 2021).
