KMT reveals MVC vaccine foreign aid official documents, DPP urges the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to investigate leaks

The DPP Legislative Yuan Caucus today pointed out that the Kuomintang held a press conference yesterday and produced an official document from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, questioning the decision on donating MVC vaccines to friendly nations with diplomatic relations. According to the Kuomintang, this is a confidential document. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs must strictly investigate and deal with the leakage of confidential official documents.
The DPP Legislative Yuan Party Secretary Liu Shifang, Secretary Luo Zhizheng, Deputy Secretary-General Huang Shijie, and Legislator Zheng Yunpeng held today "Strictly investigate and strictly deal with diplomatic leaks, and national interests surpass blue and green" to explain relevant propositions.
Luo Zhizheng said that the Kuomintang Central Party Headquarters held a press conference yesterday, claiming that it has mastered important official documents of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and accused the government of having problems with some of the government’s practices, including the promotion of domestic vaccines to countries with diplomatic relations. Among them are serious national security issues. Investigating related leaks may be involved. If diplomatic harm is caused, the Kuomintang will also be responsible for this matter.
Luo Zhizheng said that the Kuomintang chairman Jiang Qichen said that the office received a fax as an official document from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while former legislator Lin Yufang said that donating vaccines is a good thing and should be handled with integrity, "Why should we use confidential documents? I know, this is a confidential official document of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."

Luo Zhizheng pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not verified the authenticity of this official document, but if it is a confidential official document leaked by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must strictly investigate and deal with it.
Luo Zhizheng said that the content of this confidential official document is very simple and there is nothing wrong with it. It only requires foreign embassies to check with the local government about the possibility of receiving vaccine donations and conduct a willingness investigation. There is nothing wrong with this, but confidential official documents cannot be leaked.
However, the Kuomintang took out the leak, which may involve legal issues such as the State Secrets Protection Law. Luo Zhizheng believes that the Kuomintang holds this secret but does not know how to protect it. The person who leaks the secret is of course the personnel of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is required to strictly investigate and strictly handle the source of the leak, because the leakage of confidential documents may also be leaked to the other side or irrelevant.
For people, this is not a blue-green issue, but a national interest issue. It should not be used as a domestic political operation to affect diplomatic relations. Liu Shifang also called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to strictly investigate and punish it as to who leaked this confidential diplomatic document.
The Kuomintang Legislative Yuan Caucus General called Fei Hongtai, Secretary-General Zheng Liwen, and Chief Deputy Secretary-General Chen Yuzhen also held a press conference on "Degrading the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the MVC International Marketing Department?"
Fei Hongtai stated that vaccines donated by the United States and Japan to Taiwan and international allies will not be provided without international certification. Comparing heart to heart, the vaccine that Taiwan sends to the countries with diplomatic relations should also be an internationally certified vaccine.
Fei Hongtai pointed out that the people of Taiwan do not have confidence in MVC vaccines, and they must be very careful when assisting foreign countries, so as not to let the friendly countries mistakenly believe that Taiwan treats friendly people as white rats for testing. Domestic vaccines do not mean that they are national vaccines. MVC Vaccines is a listed company based on the principle of profit, but the country is not. If Taiwanese want to equate MVC vaccines with national vaccines, they should cherish the country’s reputation. (Central News Agency)

The first anniversary of Lee Teng-hui’s death, Shinzo Abe "wants to come to Taiwan to sweep the grave"
Image : Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan accepted an exclusive interview and stated that as long as the situation is positive, he wants to come to Taiwan to visit the grave of Lee Teng-hui. (Picture/Shutterstock Dazhi Image)
Former President Lee Teng-hui passed away on 30 July 2020, at the age of 98. Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said in an exclusive interview with the Sankei Shimbun that there is no leader in the world who thinks about Japan like former President Lee, and he wants to come to Taiwan to visit the grave as long as the situation permits.
Sankei Shimbun reported that Abe's intention was to consider visiting Taiwan after observing the COVID-19 epidemic and other situations, and to visit the grave of President Lee. Former President Lee was buried in a cemetery outside Taipei. The report pointed out that Abe visited Taiwan in 1994 as a member of the Youth Bureau of the Liberal Democratic Party and met with the then president Lee Teng-hui for the first time. Since then, the two have exchanged visits many times.
From 1995 to 1996, mainland China tested missiles in the coastal waters of Taiwan, triggering a crisis in the Taiwan Strait. Lee Teng-hui has led Taiwan through security crises many times, and Abe highly affirms Lee Teng-hui’s political skills and action.
Abe recalled in an interview in Sankei: "Without Mr. Lee Teng-hui, I wonder if Taiwan can continue to maintain its current status. Maybe the situation is precarious." , On democracy, human rights and other universal values of Taiwan, when Abe was prime minister, he advocated a "free and open Indo-Pacific". During the interview, he emphasized that during the Cold War era, Europe was the front line responding to the international situation. Now, due to the rise of China, the front line has moved to the Pacific. It is capable of supporting democratic countries such as Japan and the United States. Taiwan, which is adjacent to the mainland, is very important in geopolitics.
Regarding the Taiwan-Japan relations that Lee Teng-hui has attached great importance to for a long time, Abe said that the friendship between Japan and Taiwan is very close and is a special relationship. In addition to continuing exchanges, in order for Taiwan to establish its status in the international community, Japan should support Taiwan.
Abe’s idea is, specifically, to support Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Organization Conference (WHA) as an observer, and to assist Taiwan as much as possible to participate in the Comprehensive Progress Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
Abe first took office as prime minister in 2006 and stepped down in 2007 to visit Taiwan as a member of parliament. At that time, Lee Teng-hui suggested to Abe in his apartment on the outskirts of Taipei: "You have to become prime minister again. The National Security Council (NSC), an important organization related to the operation of the country, should be established. The Constitution should also be amended," Abe revealed. Li Tenghui's words inspired him. Abe became prime minister again in 2012. (Central News Agency)

MVC vaccine donation to friendly countries "Ministry of Foreign Affairs is bombarded by the Marketing Department" Green Camp: This is a cycle of kindness
KMT previously showed a message from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, disclosing that the government intends to donate MVC vaccines to friendly countries to assist in the fight against the epidemic. The Kuomintang chairman Jiang Qichen severely criticized the situation. Donate to countries with diplomatic relations, is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a high-end company’s international marketing?"
The DPP spokesperson fought back today (28 July). He said KMT would only slander, be full of political operations, and said that the move of donating MVC vaccine is to show "the cycle of kindness."
The Kuomintang held a press conference on the 27th to expose a telegram from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to the telegram from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 20, it was shown that the Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare approved Taiwan's MVC vaccine on 19 July. The MVC vaccine, officially known as MVC-COV1901, produced by the company (EUA) is suitable for active immunization of adults over 20 years old. Two doses are given at 28 days intervals to prevent covid.
The Chinese Republic government has issued a research proposal to donate the vaccine to all countries with diplomatic relations with Taiwan to assist in the fight against the epidemic. .
The Internet has exposed this to Jiang Qichen's criticism. The low coverage of vaccines in Taiwan is quite worrying for the people. The government often says that there are enough vaccines for the epidemic, but Taiwan accept other countries donated more vaccines than purchased but the government used the other hand to buy domestic vaccines without international certification and send them to the countries with diplomatic relations with national tax money, questioning "what is the logic? Where does the funding come from? What is the purpose of sending them out in such a hurry?"
Jiang Qichen revealed a diplomatic cable that the government intends to send high-end vaccines to countries with diplomatic relations.
Jiang Qichen pointed out that the MVC-COV1901 EUA was passed on 19 July, and the next day the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' delivery platform immediately used public money to present it to the countries with diplomatic relations. He really did not understand what the government was anxious about. “This is the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Advocate? Or high-level advice? Chinese people's confidence in domestic vaccines is flat, so that domestic vaccines should be donated to countries with diplomatic relations. Is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs serving as a high-end company's international marketing?"
DPP spokesperson Zhou Jiangjie refuted Jiang. Using "reduced into a MnVC international marketing department" to label the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is KMT's consistent method of splashing dirty water to discredit the country. How about Taiwan's own production of vaccines? How can international mutual assistance be marketing if it is able to provide it to all countries? Is it possible that the US donating the Moderna vaccine to Taiwan helping Modena market it? When we donate masks to other countries, are they also helping mask production and marketing?
Zhou Jiangjie said that Taiwan was able to donate masks when the international community needed masks, and was scolded by the Kuomintang for diplomacy. When Taiwan had difficulties in obtaining vaccines due to the intervention of mainland political power, other countries assisted Taiwan and slandered the government as a vaccine beggar. He said that in the past, KMT only had money diplomacy in the world, so he did not understand the importance of humanitarian and rescue diplomacy. He also cursed masks and vaccines. It ignored the fact that countries would point out the mainland’s political power to intervene in vaccines, and would only sing the opposite.
No wonder the Kuomintang's diplomacy is so worried that everything depends on the mainland.
Zhou Jiangjie believes that whether it is masks or vaccines and other medical resources, mutual assistance is a cycle of kindness, and it can prove that facing the challenge of the global epidemic, international democracy and freedom of countries with the same value concept help each other, they will be able to overcome difficulties together. He advises the Kuomintang not to just slander and be full of political operations. Such behaviour will eventually be cast aside by mainstream public opinion in Taiwan society.
In response to this so-called Ministry of Foreign Affairs telegram, the DPP Legislative Yuan caucus also pointed out today that the KMT held a press conference and produced official documents of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, questioning the decision regarding the donation of high-end vaccines to friendly countries.
According to the KMT, "This is a copy. "Confidential documents", if the Ministry of Foreign Affairs leaks confidential documents, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will strictly investigate and deal with them.
