Due to the various mutant changes of the SARS-CoV-2 (CCP virus, covi, novel coronavirus), vaccines seem to be unable to keep up with its development. In order to increase efficacy, some countries have adopted vaccine mashups, but the chief scientist of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Soumya Swaminathan warned that this is a "dangerous trend."
In view of the uncertain safety and effectiveness, Swaminatan advised on Monday (12th) that people should not mix and match the CCP virus vaccine, that is, vaccination from different manufacturers, such as Pfizer vaccine followed by AstraZeneca vaccine or reverse the order.
Swaminatan said that global health agencies have received "many inquiries" regarding the mashup vaccine. These people received the first dose of vaccine from a company and are planning to get another vaccination from a different authorized drug manufacturer. The second dose.
"This is a somewhat dangerous trend," the WHO chief scientist said at a briefing that day. "In terms of mixing and matching, we are in an area with no data and no evidence."
Swaminathan said that related research is ongoing, but she cited early research results from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. In a press release, the researchers stated that they found that the AstraZeneca vaccine jointly developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca followed by the Pfizer vaccine "induced higher antibodies and T cells than the reverse order of mixed vaccination reaction". After two doses of Pfizer vaccine, the highest antibody response occurred; while the AstraZeneca vaccine followed by Pfizer vaccine, the T cell response was the highest. T cells are highly specialized lymphocytes that play an important role in the immune response. They can identify and process cells infected with pathogens or cancer cells and eliminate them.
Although some experts believe that a mixed and matched vaccine program may make the promotion of global vaccines more flexible. But Swaminathan warned that the current data are too limited, and only the data of Pfizer after vaccination with AstraZeneca are currently available.
"If citizens start to decide when and who will take the second, third or fourth dose, then there will be chaos in various countries," Swaminathan said. At the same time, she also emphasized the necessity of equal distribution of vaccines on a global scale, and there is no scientific evidence to show that vaccination must be strengthened.
Thailand study: 40 days after vaccination of CoronaVac, antibodies reduced by 50%

A study by a Thai academic institution shows that people who have received 2 doses of CoronaVac will be protected against the original SARS-CoV-2 WIV04 within 60 days after the second dose of vaccination. The strength is about 60% to 70%, but the antibody will decrease by 50% every 40 days after the vaccination, and the antibody of people over 40 is lower than that of younger people.
The Central News Agency quoted the Bangkok Post as reporting that the research was jointly completed by Thailand’s Thammasat University and the National Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, and was conducted by the director of the research team, Anan Jongkaewwattan, who announced the results on Facebook.
Anan pointed out that they studied 500 people who received two doses of Sinovac CoronaVac, and found that the antibodies in the public decreased by 50% every 40 days. People whose first and second doses were more than 60 days apart had lower antibodies than the first. Those who have the interval between the second dose and the second dose within 60 days.
Anan pointed out that within 60 days after the second dose of vaccination, the protection against the SARS-CoV-2 WIV04 is about 60% to 70%, and people who have been inoculated for more than 60 days after the second dose are protected against the original CCP virus and the protective power is about 50%.
However, there is currently no data showing the effectiveness of CoronaVac against Alpha variant (Covi17) and Delta variant (Covi72).
Annan also pointed out that older people who have received CoronaVac will have lower immunity, and that people over 40 have lower antibodies than younger people.
The Ministry of Health of Thailand recently released statistics for the period from April to July. Among the 677,348 medical staff who completed 2 doses of CoronaVac, 618 were infected with COVID-19, of which a nurse, a teacher died, and one person was in critical condition.
Therefore, the Thai government announced yesterday that medical staff who received two doses of CoronaVac will have a third dose of reinforcement, and the third dose is more likely to be AstraZeneca (AZ vaccine); and people who received the first dose of CoronaVac will be vaccinated with the second dose AZ vaccine to increase protection against variant viruses.
Yong Poovorawan, director of the Clinical Virology Research Center of Chulalongkorn University School of Medicine, Thailand, recently disclosed on Facebook the preliminary results of their research on mixed CoronaVac and AZ vaccine.
Yong pointed out that people who received the first dose of a whole virus vaccine such as CoronaVac, and those who received the second dose of adenovirus vector vaccine such as AZ vaccine after 3 to 4 weeks were more immune than those who received two doses of Kexing (3 to 4 weeks apart). It was 8 times higher, 10 times higher than those who recovered after diagnosis, and slightly lower than those who received 2 doses of AZ vaccine (10 weeks apart).

DEA confirms former informant arrested in Haitian President's assassination
A Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) official confirmed that a suspect allegedly involved in the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse was a former informant to the agency.
A DEA official told Fox News and other news outlets Tuesday that “At times, one of the suspects in the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse was a confidential source to the DEA.”
After the assassination of Moïse earlier this week, the suspect reached out to his DEA contacts, while a DEA official called on him to surrender to local authorities, the spokesperson added.
“DEA is aware of reports that President Moïse’s assassins yelled ‘DEA’ at the time of their attack. These individuals were not acting on behalf of DEA,” the spokesperson continued.
Haitian authorities last week arrested two Haitian-American men, Joseph Vincent, 55, and James Solages, 35, and charged them with joining 26 Colombians in the fatal attack on Haitian President Jovenel Moïse.
It’s not clear which suspect, if either, was the DEA informant.
A third Haitian-American, Christian Emmanuel Sanon, was arrested on Sunday by Haitian authorities. They accused Sanon of being the mastermind behind the assassination.
Meanwhile, the Department of Justice (DOJ) was asked by Haitian officials to assist in an investigation into the attack.
“An initial assessment has been conducted in Haiti by senior U.S. officials,” said spokesman Anthony Coley, reported Reuters. “The department will also investigate whether there were any violations of U.S. criminal law in connection with this matter.”
Solages described himself online as a “certified diplomatic agent” and the former “chief commander of bodyguards” for the Canadian Embassy in Haiti. Those statements were made on the website of a charity he ran, which on Thursday removed the statements.
“An unidentified group of individuals, some of whom were speaking in Spanish, attacked the private residence of the President of the Republic and mortally wounded him,” Prime Minister Claude Joseph said in a statement about the attack last week, adding that the suspects were armed with “high-caliber weapons.”
Moïse, 53, and his wife were attacked at about 1 a.m. local time on July 7 in Port-au-Prince, said Joseph.
“The security situation of the country is under the control of the Haitian National Police and the Haitian Armed Forces,” he added in the statement. “All measures are being taken to guarantee the continuity of the State and to protect the nation. Democracy and the Republic will triumph.”

Texas Governor: Missing Democrat lawmakers 'will be arrested' after returning to Texas
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Democrat state legislators who left a special session to protest against a voting overhaul bill “will be arrested” when they return from Washington D.C.
The lawmakers on Monday announced that they left Texas to deny Republican lawmakers quorum to convene the special legislative session to consider an election overhaul in the state and confirmed they left on a charter flight to Washington. Members of the Democrat caucus staged a similar walkout on May 30 to block the election overhaul bill, which calls for limits on early and curbside voting, bans 24-hour voting centers, limits the usage of ballot drop-boxes, and other provisions.
Abbott, a Republican, told KVUE-TV that his office and the House speaker’s office have the power to arrest the lawmakers until they “get the job done.”
“There is something the governor can do. First of all, I’ll tell you what the House of Representatives can do. What the speaker can do is issue a call to have these members arrested,” Abbott said. “In addition to that, however, I can and I will continue to call a special session after special session after special session all the way up until election next year.”
Abbott said that the Democrats are “going to have to be prepared to do it for well over a year.”
“As soon as they come back in the state of Texas, they will be arrested, they will be cabined inside the Texas Capitol until they get their job done,” Abbott remarked.
“Everybody who has a job must show up to do that job, just like your viewers watching right now. State representatives have that same responsibility.”
The reason for the walkout, according to Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa, is to prevent the bill from passing. Democrats have said the measure would place undue stress on minority voters, saying it would suppress their ability to cast ballots.
“After Abbott dragged lawmakers back to the Capitol for his suppression session,” Hinojosa said, “Democrats are fighting back with everything we’ve got.”
And their decision on Monday as a Texas state House committee on Sunday voted to advance a bill that would bring back a number of voting integrity-related proposals that didn’t pass during the previous session. Later on Sunday, Senate lawmakers advanced their version of the voting legislation in a committee vote.
Both Abbott and state Republicans have argued that the bill is necessary to protect elections and restore the public’s confidence in the state election system.
“By and large, individual voters are trying to vote. They’re trying to do the right thing,” Republican State Sen. Bryan Hughes said told KWTX over the weekend. “We want them to do that. The security measures in this bill, by and large, are directed at vote harvesters or folks who are trying to steal votes.”
When he announced the special legislative session, Abbott also said he wants lawmakers to consider measures targeting bail reform and critical race theory in schools. Meanwhile, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said he wants a bill to prevent biological males from competing in women’s and girl’s sports.

Political turmoil in Haiti, Cuba, U.S. warns against fleeing to U.S.
On the recent political turmoil in Haiti and Cuba, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security warned the people of these two countries on 13 July not to try to flee to the U.S. because of the domestic unrest, because not only the sea journey is dangerous, but they may also be repatriated.
After Haitian President Jovenel Moise was assassinated last week, the leadership was in chaos; Cuba, due to public dissatisfaction with the socio-economic situation, demanded an end to the communist dictatorship, and rare demonstrations broke out during the weekend.
US Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said that there is no evidence to show that the number of people trying to travel to the United States from Haiti and Cuba by sea has increased, but the Coast Guard is patrolling with the support of aircraft dispatched by Florida. In the sea, if there are migrant ships, they will be blocked.
He said, “Trying to immigrate by sea is never the right time. It’s not worth the risk.” He also emphasized, “Let me make it clear that if you travel by sea, you will not come to the United States.”
He said, "Immigrants intercepted at sea, regardless of their nationality, cannot enter the United States." He said that it is currently the hurricane season and the journey through the Florida Strait is particularly dangerous. In recent weeks, 20 people have been trying to come to the United States but they died.
The United States continues to assist Haiti in investigating the assassination of Moise, and it has also dispatched Coast Guard ships to the sea off Haiti. Majorcas said, "We are determined to support the Haitian government in seeking justice in this case, and we reiterate that the United States supports the Haitian people."
"We also stand with the Cuban people and support them in seeking freedom from the oppression and economic difficulties caused by the autocratic Cuban government."
On 12 July, White House spokesman Jen Psaki said that a delegation of US law enforcement and national security officials who visited Haiti the previous day had noticed the country’s instability after the murder of Moise. She said that Haiti's request for the deployment and security of the US military is "still under analysis."

The CCP quietly acquired land in Asia and Africa, arousing Japan's vigilance
The CCP’s strategic expansion is not limited to the oceans, and the "One Belt One Road" infrastructure construction. The CCP has also been actively acquiring overseas land. The Japanese professor said that it is necessary to prevent the CCP’s predatory enclosing behavior.
According to a report from the Nikkei Shimbun on 13 July, the Chinese government, through Chinese companies, is buying or leasing land in Asia and Africa on a large scale. In the past ten years, the total area of land purchased or leased by these companies is equivalent to the total area of land in Sri Lanka or Lithuania, which is much larger than the area acquired by institutions and companies in the United States and other major countries.
People are increasingly worried that in these emerging and developing countries, the land used as a source of food and natural resources will gradually fall under the control of the CCP, which brings many worrying security risks.
Japan and other big countries cannot treat such crazy mergers and acquisitions by the CCP as trivial and ignore them.
Hideki Hirano, a professor at Himeji University in Japan who studies land acquisitions by countries around the world, said: “The law should be further improved to prevent this kind of predatory enclosing behavior by the CCP.”

CCP invests in land in Myanmar and Vietnam
To give just one example, in Kachin State in northern Myanmar, bananas are widely planted. Many banana trees are about 3 meters tall and grow very thick. Around 2015, the plantation began to accelerate development, which greatly changed the local landscape.
According to surveys conducted by NGOs and other organizations, Chinese companies are heavily involved in banana planting in the area. According to data from the United Nations, Myanmar’s banana exports have soared from US$1.5 million in 2013 to US$370 million in 2020, an increase of 250 times. Most bananas are sold to mainland China.
Local residents said that since the military coup in February, banana plantations in Kachin State have continued to operate because they are an important source of tax revenue for the Myanmar armed forces.
Chinese companies are not only changing the landscape of Myanmar. In Binh Phuoc province in southern Vietnam, natural rubber production is an important pillar industry here, but due to the investment in this area by the large Chinese animal husbandry company New Hope Liuhe Group, this industry is now under threat. New Hope Group developed 75 hectares of land in 2019 and raised a large number of live pigs on it. New Hope Group has also carried out the same land development in central and northern Vietnam, and established more pig farms based on the pig farm established in Binh Phuoc.

Chinese company obtains 6.48 million hectares of land control rights within 10 years
According to data from the Land Matrix, the European land monitoring agency, from 2011 to 2020, Chinese companies have obtained a total of 6.48 million hectares of land for use in agriculture, forestry and mining. This amount dwarfs the 1.56 million hectares of land controlled by British companies, the 860,000 hectares of land controlled by American companies, and the 420,000 hectares of land controlled by Japanese companies.
Chinese companies are rapidly acquiring land overseas to meet the growing domestic demand in China. With the shortage of raw materials worldwide, purchasing land overseas has enabled these companies to stably obtain natural resources.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is an example. Most of the land in this central African country is forest. In the context of soaring timber prices, a Chinese company called Wanpeng has been shipping large amounts of timber from the country to China, and the Congolese Embassy in Tokyo declined to comment on the contract with the Chinese company.
Chinese companies are also buying mines. According to the think tank American Enterprise Public Policy Research Institute, China Minmetals Corporation invested US$280 million in Tanzania in southern Africa in 2019; China Nonferrous Metals Mining Corporation invested US$730 million in Guinea's mining business in 2020. According to reports, the purpose of these investments is to obtain minerals for the production of batteries for electric vehicles.

Countries that accept investment from the CCP face potential risks
Countries that receive investment from the CCP face potential risks because they rely more on China. Experts say that Beijing’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative is a huge multi-country infrastructure development plan and a debt trap. The host country owed a large amount of debt in order to stimulate development, but was later controlled by the CCP due to the high debt.
When China Harbor Engineering Corporation developed a port in southern Sri Lanka, the country was unable to repay the loan to the CCP and handed over the port to China Harbor Engineering Corporation under a 99-year lease. This is a typical example of a debt trap.
In May, China Harbour Engineering Corporation (CHEC) won a contract to build a highway in Colombo, Sri Lanka's largest city. The Chinese company will continue to own the highway after it is built, and will hand it over to the Sri Lankan government after collecting tolls for 18 years. The Colombo highway bidding process is very opaque and is attracting many criticisms.
The CCP’s overseas purchase of natural resources is causing a backlash around the world.
In June, the Japanese parliament promulgated a new law to strengthen the supervision of land acquisition and use in places deemed vital to national security. This law is aimed at the Chinese Communist Party and aims to prevent foreign companies from carrying out potentially threatening land acquisitions. For example, there have been cases where a foreign entity company owns land near the Japan Air Self-Defense Force base in Chitose, Hokkaido.
In addition, a person related to public security and intelligence said, “There are also some land that is nominally owned by Japanese citizens, but has the support of Chinese entities.”
