8. If local governments have relevant catering industry epidemic prevention management measures or regulations, the catering industry in the mall must still follow the contents of the announcement issued by the local government and cooperate with it.

Swedish parliamentarian publishes book "Hong Kong RIP" calling for recognition of CCP's threat

The young Swedish politician Simona Mohamsson published a new book "Hong Kong RIP" on 1 July 2021, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), calling on the public to recognize the CCP regime's threat to democracy through the Hong Kong case.

The 26-year-old Mohamsson served as the vice chairman of the Youth League of the Liberal Party and is now a councillor of Goteborg. She is also the secretary of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC). A member of the Division, she serves as a consultant on China issues for representatives of the Nordic countries.

Mohamsson told the Central News Agency that she would be interested in Hong Kong issues because seeing the photos of the Umbrella Movement made her angry and admired the will of Hong Kong people. After that, Mohamsson contacted Hong Kong's "Youth New Deal" through the activities of the political party youth league and began to participate in Hong Kong issues.

In 2019, Mohamsson followed congressmen from more than a dozen countries to Hong Kong to observe the election that year, and decided to record what she saw and heard. "Hong Kong RIP" records Hong Kong's democratic struggle from the Umbrella Movement to the anti-transmission through field visits and personal interviews.

Mohamsson said that the main purpose of the book's publication is to let the Swedish public know more about Hong Kong and China issues. She said that Hong Kong is like a window. You can see what the CCP wants when you look in it, and you can see that the CCP can do everything in order to gain power. She believes that the CCP not only affects Hong Kong, Tibet, and Taiwan, but it is also likely to pose a threat to Sweden's security.

News (9)

Taiwan's role in democracy is important

There is also a chapter in the book devoted to the role of Taiwan in Hong Kong issues. Mohamsson said that the situation of Taiwan and Hong Kong is more similar than many people think. Many pro-democracy activists who have lived in Taiwan hope to let the Swedish government understand the importance of Taiwan and then recognize Taiwan.

News (10)

SAS listing Taiwan as CCP province is wrong

She believes that the Swedish Tax Agency (Swedish Tax Agency) and the Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) system listed Taiwan as a province of the CCP, which is not only a mistake to confuse the public, but also a wrong approach. This is the CCP's attempt to isolate Taiwan from the international community. One move.

Mohamsson: Sweden coward in dealing with CCP's human rights violations

Mohamsson mentioned that over the 70 years since Sweden established diplomatic relations with the CCP, the Swedish government has been naïve and cowardly dealing with the CCP’s human rights violations. The CCP is different from other countries. Today in 2021, it should be regarded as the biggest threat to democracy and an open society.

News (12)

Hongkongers constantly fight for hope

The title of "Hong Kong RIP" makes people feel that Hong Kong is completely hopeless. Mohamsson said that for many people who grew up in Hong Kong or who have visited Hong Kong, the past Hong Kong has indeed disappeared, but there are still many people constantly fighting for hope.

News (13)

Turning a blind eye to totalitarian governments ends bad

Mohamsson hopes that the publication of this book can resonate with more people and stand up and ask politicians to do something about the CCP. She also wants to remind the public through this book that history has proven that turning a blind eye to totalitarian governments for economic benefits will not end well.

She recorded the experiences, testimonies and even dreams of Hong Kong democracy activists in this book, so that people in Hong Kong would know that someone who saw their struggle was still caring and supporting them.

"Hong Kong RIP" is written in Swedish, and there is no other language version yet.

Reporter : Liao Zongqing / Direct translation

The first Guam vaccine tour ended after five days. Taiwanese tourists returned to Taiwan at night of 10 July 2021. They called directly, "It is worthwhile!". Not only are there three vaccines that can be freely selected, but also they can play in the water facilities can be played. Some returning travelers said that if they can't get the second dose next in Taiwan, they would consider participating again.

Taoyuan Airport staff called, "Come, one identification card per person, please follow the instructions of the staff when entering." Passengers walked out of the airport one by one, preparing to queue up for immigration procedures. After the outbreak, the airport has not seen such a situation for a long time. It turned out that they were the first group of travelers to Guam for the vaccine, and returned to Taiwan after a five-day and four-night trip.

Guam Vaccine Group traveler Ms. Lin commented, "It's not bad, I'm quite relaxed, I'm in a good mood, yes, solve one thing."

Guam Vaccine Group traveler Ms. Weng remarked, "Because the places to visit are not fully open yet. So, it’s a pity that I haven’t seen all the places in some places, and then it’s a pity that I didn’t enjoy parachuting, so I want to go parachuting next time.”

Most travelers like this trip because they have not travelled for too long from Taiwan. This time Guam is more than just a trip. They can play in the water facilities and get vaccinated. There are Johnson & Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer they can choose freely.

Guam Vaccine Group guest Ms. Chen said, "(Second dose) should go to the United States to vaccinate, because I am going to study there."

There were 164 participants in the Guam Vaccine Tour, but only 132 returned to Taiwan. Thirty-two people participated in the 22-day itinerary, and they would return home after two doses of vaccinations in Guam. Some travelers who returned to Taiwan said that if there is no way to get the second dose in Taiwan next month, they would consider flying to Guam again.

Comment on "Virus Traceability" attracts attention Shanghai Gu Guoping was subpoenaed

A few days ago, Gu Guoping, a retired teacher and rights activist in Shanghai, was suspected of posting a comment on the "Traceable Novel Coronavirus  (CCP Virus)" on overseas social media platforms. Summoned by the local police station. he said, “The Shanghai authorities asked me to take notes on a so-called reactionary article in an attempt to harm me. I think they are like the Titanic encountering a glacier at this time.”

According to news from Tiananmen.com, at about 8:50 a.m. on July 10, Gu Guoping posted a message in the WeChat group: “At about 15 pm. on 9 July 2021, I was arrested by Cai Zongwei, a stability maintenance police officer from Zhoujiaqiao Police Station in Changning District, and two other people. A policeman came and summoned him and was taken to the police station to make a record of the questioning."

The police suspected that Gu Guoping recently published a comment on the "tracing of the novel coronavirus" on overseas social platforms. This comment has aroused concern at home and abroad, and therefore caused fear by the Shanghai authorities.

News (16)

Call on the international communities together to hold accountable

Gu Guoping’s article is titled "Using Legal Inferences on the Traceability and Responsibility of the Novel Coronavirus". The article mentioned that the novel coronavirus epidemic that has swept the world has caused more than 183 million people to be infected and 4 million people died. An unprecedented huge disaster on earth. It is very necessary to conduct a thorough, comprehensive, complete and in-depth investigation of the source of this virus. This is what we humans must do to thoroughly defeat and eliminate this virus.

The author of this article analyzed and deduced the six greatest possibilities of the source of the virus:
1. Where the epidemic breaks out, it should be the origin of the virus;
2. Which country’s virology experts have published in specialized academic journals, and claiming to be the world’s first report of the discovery of a novel coronavirus sequence, proves which country the virus originated from;
3. Why do you want to conceal the epidemic after the virus breaks out, and still mislead, and falsely claim that it is preventable and controllable? Human-to-human transmission will not happen?
4. Whoever is doing the scandal of destroying the original sequence record of the virus is the biggest suspect in researching and producing the virus;
5. Who has repeatedly refused the WHO expert team to enter the virus research institute suspected of being involved in the case for verification?
6. Whoever is doing the reverse, opposing and preventing the tracing of the novel coronavirus, is suspected of creating this plague, who is creating this threat to all mankind, and launched an ultra-restricted biochemical warfare against all mankind.

Gu Guoping told the Epoch Times reporter, “The two police officers said that it was because I published an article on the source of the novel coronavirus on the Internet. The superiors asked them to summon me to make a transcript. I said you didn’t say you can’t trust the Internet (Report )? How do you use this as an argument now? I want them to show a legal basis. They still insist that I do the transcript."

"I said, if it is my published article, it is only expressing my personal opinion. Which law stipulates that 'view' is guilty? You can ask the owner of the Internet to provide relevant information about the published article, and then you can look for it after you get the evidence. I?"

At the insistence of the two policemen, Gu Guoping was taken to the underground interrogation room of the Zhoujiaqiao Police Station in Changning District, where he sat in the interrogation chair and took the interrogation transcript for up to 3 hours. "I said, I want to record your illegal acts. What basis do you call me today? What evidence and facts do you use to record me? For a person like me, you need to record me now. I will not answer at all. You abuse your power, transcend the law, and lawless."

Gu Guoping said, “Whoever caused and initiated this catastrophe that endangers human life must accept the joint accountability and punishment from the international community. We call on the international community to take strong measures as soon as possible to exterminate the evil devil regime of this plague."

Released on bail after being detained for WeChat remarks

Gu Guoping revealed, "Usually, after they have done the transcript, you will be sent to the detention center directly after you sign. This is the case every time." This is what happened to him during the two sessions this year.

Before the two sessions on 17 February 2021, Gu Guoping fled to a friend's house for refuge with the assistance of a visiting friend because he was under steady surveillance. He suggested in the WeChat group that petitioners should change their strategy and enter Beijing after the two sessions. The statement was accused by Shanghai Changning Branch Bureau of incitement, and was detained for 31 days for "picking quarrels and provoking trouble". After the expiration, he was forced to release on bail for one year.

Prior to this, Wang Jing, a reporter from Tiananmen.com, said, “The CCP is nakedly monitoring and suppressing citizens’ right to freedom of speech, making public and normalizing the voices of justice and the “convicted of words” of justice. This is a great contribution to human rights persecution."

Co-sign the new open letter on the natural origin of the virus 3 scientists abandoned signing

Reporter : Zachary Stieber/Compiled by Gao Shan / Editor : Ye Ziwei / https://www.epochtimes.com/gb/21/7/9/n13077374.htm / Direct translation

A new open letter by a group of scientists stated that the virus that caused the COVID-19 epidemic was of natural origin but what is striking is that in the new statement, the names of three previously signed scientists disappeared.

At the beginning of last year, a group of scientists published an open letter in The Lancet magazine and cited several studies, calling the view that the CCP virus was created in a certain laboratory as a "conspiracy".

This time, the same group of scientists (with three signatures missing) wrote a follow-up open letter, which was published in the same journal on 5 July. Scientists revealed that they received questions about whether they still adhere to last year's views.

The scientists wrote: "The key question we must solve now is how SARS-CoV-2 (the Chinese Communist virus) was transmitted to humans? This is important because it is this insight that will push the world to take emergency measures. Prevent the recurrence of a tragedy similar to the COVID-19 (Chinese Communist Party virus) epidemic. We believe that the strongest clues from new, credible, and peer-reviewed evidence in the scientific literature show that the virus evolved in nature As for the claim that the virus leaked from the laboratory, there is still no scientifically verified evidence published in peer-reviewed scientific journals to directly support it.” They also cited four studies in the article.

Many officials, including former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, said that there is evidence to support the theory that the virus leaked from a laboratory. Some scientists condemned the rush to deny the laboratory leaked virus theory last year.

Three signatures are missing from this new open letter: William Karesh, executive vice president of health policy at the EcoHealth Alliance, and a microbiologist at the Icahn School of Medicine. Dr. Peter Palese and Bernard Roizman, professor of virology at the University of Chicago, did not sign this new open letter.

When asked for comments on the matter, Dr. Pales said in an email, "No comment!"; Karesh did not respond to the inquiry submitted to the Alliance; Rozman did not respond to the inquiry.

Pales said in June that in light of the "disturbing information" that emerged after the publication of the first letter of The Lancet, he supported a "thorough investigation" of the origin of the virus.

As to whether the CCP virus originated in nature or was created at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, scientists still have differences in opinions. The Wuhan Institute of Virology is a top laboratory located in Wuhan, which detected its first case of COVID-19 infection at the end of 2019. The prevarication and delay of CCP officials, and the close relationship between the World Health Organization and the Chinese Communist Party, have exacerbated the uncertainty about the origin of the virus. The World Health Organization has investigated the origin of the virus.

An internal e-mail published last month showed that in the past year, some US government officials had seriously considered the claim that the Chinese Communist Party laboratory leaked the virus. But after a secret meeting with some outside scientists, they began to doubt the claim. At least one of these scientists is a signatory to an open letter published by The Lancet.

Fauci recently stated that the virus may have leaked from the laboratory.

Study: Recovered patients have low risk of reinfection

A study in the United States found that people who have been infected with COVID-19 and recovered have a very low risk of re-infection, and the protection is almost equivalent to vaccination.

The researchers analyzed the records of Curative, a clinical laboratory in San Dimas that specializes in testing for COVID-19 and conducting routine physical examinations for many corporate employees during the pandemic.

It was found that among the 254 people who were infected with COVID-19 and recovered, no one was infected again, and among the 739 people who were fully vaccinated, 4 people were infected with the disease.

"The biggest gain is that if you have not been vaccinated and have not been infected before, then you have a very high risk of being infected, and 24% of people will be diagnosed within a year," said a preventive medicine expert at the Keck Medical Center of USC Dr. Jeffrey Klausner told The Epoch Times, “However, on the other hand, if you have been vaccinated or have been infected before, your risk is almost zero.”

Dr. Klausner, Dr. Noah Kojima of the University of California, Los Angeles, and Curative researchers analyzed the records together. They published a pre-review version of the study online this week.

Previously, a British study and a Cleveland Clinic study also pointed out similar results. These studies show that people who have been infected with COVID-19 and recovered enjoy protection similar to that of those vaccinated.

"This should give people who have recovered confidence that their risk of re-infection is very low. Some experts, including myself, believe that the degree of protection is equivalent to vaccination." Klausner said in an interview with The Epoch Times.

"We are working hard to update the guidelines so that those who have recovered have the same rights and treatment as those who have been vaccinated."

According to US federal guidelines, people should be vaccinated regardless of whether they have been infected with COVID-19 in the past.

This new research has been submitted to a journal and is undergoing peer review.

However, some experts pointed out that the median age of the analyzed cases was 29 years old, and it may be insufficient for cases over 65 years old, so this result may not be applicable to the elderly.

Poll: Most Brazilians support the removal of the president

A new poll in Brazil shows that most Brazilians support the removal of President Jair Bolsonaro for the first time after the authorities launched a corruption investigation into the procurement of the Chinese Communist virus vaccine.

Reuters reported that a poll released by the polling agency Datafolha showed that 54% of people supported the proposed impeachment procedure.

Brazil’s Supreme Court has approved an investigation into Bolsonaro’s negligence in purchasing vaccines.

In February of this year, the Brazilian government signed a contract with Bharat Biotech, a Brazilian intermediary agency. According to the contract, Brazil will purchase 20 million doses of vaccines produced in India at a price of 1.6 billion reais (about 316 million U.S. dollars) but the contract was accused of violation. Bolsonaro is involved.

After allegations of violations surfaced, the government suspended the contract.

Bolsonaro's handling of the pandemic in general has also hit his popularity. Brazil has not been able to contain the epidemic.

Brazil's National Health Inspection Agency (ANVISA) approved the covi vaccine ButanVac developed by the Instituto Butantan on Friday to start a human clinical trial, which is expected to take 17 weeks to complete.

According to the Central News Agency, ButanVac is the first covi vaccine in Brazil that does not rely on imported raw materials, and the main production raw materials are the same as those needed to manufacture influenza vaccines.

CNN pointed out that the vaccine trial will be divided into three stages: A, B, and C. The first phase will determine the safety and optimal dose of the vaccine. This phase will involve 418 volunteers. Phases B and C are designed to assess the immune response and will involve more than 5,000 volunteers.

Sao Paulo Governor João Doria pointed out at a press conference today that it is expected that from 2022, when Brazilians may need to be vaccinated again with COVID-19 to strengthen their immunity, ButanVac can be used.

Doria said that the cost of ButanVac may be lower than all the COVID-19 vaccines currently on the market (preliminary estimate is about 2 US dollars), saving public resources, and then expanding the scope of vaccination.

If NHS personnel are fully vaccinated, the UK considers no longer requiring them to self-isolate

In the UK, government officials are studying whether it is possible to allow fully vaccinated NHS (National Health Service) workers to abandon self-quarantine in order to contain the crisis of healthcare workers when the covi infection spreads rapidly.

Downing Street said on Friday (9 July) that it was considering whether it could end the NHS’s Covid app’s self-quarantine requirements early. For other fully vaccinated people, this requirement will end on August 16.

England will enter the final release on 19 July when most restrictions will end, including mask requirements.

The wonders of the China-Myanmar border

Reporter : Li Yun / Editor: Fan Ming / https://www.ntdtv.com/gb/2021/07/11/a103163083.html / Direct translation

Recently, due to the rapid increase in confirmed covid cases in Myanmar and the Chinese Communist Party's official order to "return home and surrender" criminals, the number of Chinese returning from northern Myanmar has skyrocketed. The Yunnan Communist Youth League stated on 10 July that the suspects lined up at border crossings every day to return to their country and surrender. They have put pressure on the prevention and control of the covid epidemic in Yunnan.

In recent years, northern Myanmar has become the main hub of Chinese telecom fraud and online gambling groups. The Chinese Communist Party officially stated that at least more than 100,000 Chinese were “engaged in criminal activities” in the local area.

Recently, various parts of China issued a notice urging those stranded in northern Myanmar to return to China and surrender within a time limit, stating, “Failure to return to China in accordance with the regulations will be severely punished and cancel all policy preferences, benefits, and subsidies for themselves and their family members.” It means not only to punish them, but also to imprison their families.

This threat is quite effective, and many people are afraid of revoking their household registrations and tying their families back to the country.

On 10 July, a video uploaded by the Yunnan Communist Youth League showed that at a port on the China-Myanmar border, hundreds of Chinese were waiting for customs clearance to return home.

According to the announcement issued by the Yunnan Communist Youth League, due to the increase in confirmed cases in Myanmar, many places in China have recently issued intensive announcements on persuasion to return, requiring "persons suspected of illegal entry and exit, telecommunications fraud, and online gambling crimes" to return within a specified time. Otherwise, they will be deemed to be persons who lost contact and revoke their household registration".

According to the announcement, in Jiejiao, Houqiao, Nansan, Meng'a, Daluo... these ports in northern Myanmar adjacent to the border of Yunnan, China, suspects engaged in telecommunications fraud and online gambling lined up at the border ports every day. The need to return home and surrender has put pressure on the prevention and control of the epidemic in Ruili, Yunnan.

A staff member said that after the epidemic, they have been operating 24 hours a day. “Just now, there are nearly 100 people returning from Myanmar. We will perform nucleic acid tests for them. If they are found to be infected with the virus. , they will be turned and isolated soon."

The staff said that there are more than 60 people in the Ruili Disease Control Centre, plus the 40 contract workers hired, the manpower is still struggling.

A live video posted by the Weibo big V showed that due to too many Chinese waiting to return to the country every day, the epidemic prevention and control could not be carried out, and a border port in Yunnan was forced to set up a bulletin board that "received registration to return to China with a limit of 150 people per day".

Related pictures and texts were popular on Chinese social networks, and netizens ridiculed, "it is a great spectacle of this year."

There are a total of 25 border counties in Yunnan bordering Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam. The border is 4,060 kilometers long, of which Myanmar borders nearly 2,000 kilometers, followed by the Sino-Vietnamese border at 1,353 kilometers.

Pictures circulated on the Internet that a 1,000-kilometre-long barbed wire border fence was built on the Yunnan border. Local people disclosed that the wall was built to prevent people from fleeing and to prevent the infiltration of so-called "hostile forces".

In recent years, as China’s economic situation has deteriorated, a large number of unemployed Chinese have smuggled into Southeast Asia, especially in the northern Myanmar armed separatist zone, Cambodia and other places in Indochina, engaging in telecom fraud specifically targeting Chinese people, and caused thousands of people to be deceived but the CCP ignored the fraud.

Public reports show that the collective return of Chinese fraudsters in northern Myanmar is related to the mobile phone software scandal that was used by China to instill Xi Jinping's thinking.

Recently claimed to be the “learning power” for mobile phone software with the highest downloads in China, it is used by criminals as a medium for fraudulent money. The fraudsters first register with their real names to gain the trust of other followers, and then set up investment or gambling traps to defraud money.

After the scandal was exposed, public security bureaus in various parts of China issued notices requesting people who were stranded in Southeast Asia, especially those who had smuggled into northern Myanmar and the Golden Triangle, to report to the police on their own initiative.

Police officer Wu of the Joint Anti-fraud Office of the Public Security Bureau of Santai County, Mianyang, Sichuan Province confirmed to Free Asia that the crackdown on telecommunications cybercrime was carried out under the unified deployment of the State Council, and northern Myanmar is a key area.

Another police officer of the Joint Anti-Fraud Office said that if smugglers do not accept persuasion to return, their family members and even their children's college entrance examinations and school enrollment may be affected.

Liu Jun, a taxi driver who smuggled into the fourth special zone of Mengla in northern Myanmar many years ago, revealed that since May, Chinese people in northern Myanmar have basically received calls from their home village chief or police station asking them to return to the country within a time limit.

He said that this time the government’s persuasion was carried out in batches, and the police had a detailed list. The exact number is not clear, but there are currently more than 100,000  mainlanders in northern Myanmar.

Dead Belgian woman infected with 2 covi variants

A 90-year-old woman who died after falling ill from covid was infected with both the UK and South African variants of SARS-CoV-2 at the same time, scientists in Belgium have revealed.

The woman, who lived alone and received at-home nursing care, had not received the vaccine and was admitted to the OLV Hospital in the Belgian city of Aalst - around 17 miles from Brussels - after a spate of falls in March. She tested positive for covid the same day.

While her oxygen levels were initially good, her condition deteriorated rapidly and she died five days later.

When medical staff tested for the presence of any variants of concern they found that she was carrying both the Alpha strain, which originated in Britain, and the Beta variant first detected in South Africa.

Researchers believe it is the first documented case of its kind and are warning, although rare, dual infections can occur.

Covid tally of Belgium as of 11 July 2021

Covid-19 infections are currently on the rise in Belgium, with 1,027 new infections reported on average each day, although the death rate is waning, with latest figures showing just two reported deaths in the last few days.

WHAT ARE THE UK AND SOUTH AFRICAN VARIANTS?

UK (also known as Kent) variant

Real name: B.1.1.7 or Alpha strain

When was it discovered? The variant was first found in the South East of England and can be traced back to September 2020.

What mutations does it have? It has 23 mutations, some of which change the shape of the spike protein on its outside. The main mutation is known as N501Y. This appears to make it better able to stick to the cells inside the body and makes it more likely to cause infection and faster to spread.

How many have been infected? UK studies have shown it is between 50 and 70 per cent more infectious than the regular strain. More than 200,000 cases in Britain have been identified and it has spread to more than 50 countries.

.................................................................

South African variant

Real name: B.1.351

When was it discovered? Nelson Mandela Bay, in South Africa's Eastern Cape Province, in mid-December.

What mutations does it have? The South African variant carries 21 mutations, including E484K and N501Y.

Why is it causing worry? Those two mutations suggest it is more infectious than the older version of Covid. However, it has not taken a hold in the UK in the same way as other variants, with the Delta strain now most dominant.

There have been 1,093,700 infections and 25,198 coronavirus-related deaths reported in the country since the pandemic began.

Around 51.5 per cent of the population are thought to have been vaccinated so far.

First of its case in Belgium

Molecular biologist Anne Vankeerberghen from the OLV Hospital who led the research, said: 'Both these variants were circulating in Belgium at the time, so it is likely that the lady was co-infected with different viruses from two different people,' said 'Unfortunately, we don't know how she became infected.'

Vankeerberghen said it was difficult to say whether the co-infection played a role in the fast deterioration of the patient.

The research, which has not yet been submitted to a medical journal for publication, is being presented at the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases.

Two Brazilians infected with two different strains at the same time in February 2021

In February, scientists in Brazil reported that two people had been simultaneously infected with two different strains of the coronavirus, but the study has yet to be published in a scientific journal.

In comments reacting to the research, Lawrence Young, a virologist and professor of molecular oncology at the University of Warwick, said it was not a surprise to find an individual infected with more than one strain.

'This study does highlight the need for more studies to determine whether infection with multiple variants of concern affects the clinical course of Covid-19 and whether this in any way compromises the efficacy of vaccination,' he added.

New versions or variants of SARS-CoV-2 are constantly appearing due to mutations in the virus as it spreads.

Some of these variations give the virus new advantages, such as becoming more contagious or being able to dodge existing antibodies from a past infection or vaccination.

The strains capable of doing this are being monitored by scientists and are called 'variants of concern.'

The Belgian case follows on from two cases of double covi infection reported in Brazil in February.

The Brazilians infected with P.1 and P.2 at the same time in Rio Grande do Sul

Researchers at Feevale University made the discovery after swabbing 90 infected people in Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil.

One of the patients tested positive for two Brazilian strains which evolved separately in different states, known as P.1 and P.2.

No research has yet been published in a scientific journal or scrutinised by other scientists however.

In February, Dr John McCauley, director of the Worldwide Influenza Centre at the Francis Crick Institute in London, told MailOnline it was possible for someone to get infected by two strains at the same time, which can happen with the flu.

He warned that, while unlikely, it was also biologically possible the two strains could interfere with one another and swap genetic code.

'Getting one strain up a nostril and another up another nostril doesn't matter...but (the risk is) if they get to the back of the throat and then go into the same cell - then there's an opportunity for this to happen.'
