Taiwan’s latest poll: Nearly 90% of Taiwanese are disgusted or unaffected by the CCP

Reporter : Liu Minghuan / Editor : Wenhui  / https://www.ntdtv.com/gb/2021/07/07/a103159794.html / Direct translation

Following Xi Jinping’s speech on 1 July, when he mentioned the Taiwan issue, Wang Yang, chairman of the Chinese Communist Party’s National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, revisited the topic of "unification of Taiwan" in his speech on the 5th. However, the results of a poll recently released by Taiwan show that nearly 90% of Taiwanese are disgusted or unaffected by the CCP.

According to the Chinese Communist Party's official media, Wang Yang declared in his speech on July 5 that "it is necessary to unite Taiwan compatriots to jointly promote the process of peaceful reunification of the motherland."

Radio Free Asia reported that in response to Wang Yang’s speech, the Mainland Affairs Council of Taiwan pointed out that the CCP used a “united front” approach to deal with its internal and external problems. Continue to expand the CCP’s influence on the international community and democratic countries, and expand its united front work against Taiwan.

The MAC also called on China to face up to the reality of the two sides of the strait and respect Taiwan’s insistence on the development of cross-strait relations. Only by abandoning the imposed political framework and military intimidation and facing up to Taiwan’s important initiatives of "peace, reciprocity, democracy, and dialogue" can it help. The relationship between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits has been interacted and developed continuously.

According to a poll published by the Taiwan Public Opinion Foundation on the day of the Communist Party’s Day on July 1, the results of a survey on the emotional temperature of Taiwanese towards the Communist Party of China showed that “up to 80% of people are either disgusted with the Communist Party of China or have no interest in the Communist Party of China. sense."

Associate Professor Meng Zhicheng of the Department of Political Science at National Cheng Kung University said that Xi Jinping was the one who could set the tone in the end. The July 1st party celebration speech was very clear. The CCP’s Taiwan policy now strongly stresses "promoting reunification." As far as China (the CCP) is concerned, the best way to promote "unification" is "no war", which means "peace reunification."

Meng Zhicheng said: "I think their actions have been very intense. Recently, they have forced the signing of the'First China' consent form in the offices of Hong Kong and Macau, or else they will withdraw. He is no longer a slogan in'promoting reunification'. It has already been implemented in concrete terms. Looking specifically at the CCP’s internal actions towards Hong Kong and Taiwan, it is actually more urgent and violent."

Meng Zhicheng mentioned that Hong Kong and Macau are firmly in the hands of the CCP. The next step is to seize Taiwan and forcefully appeal to "unification." However, the rhythm of China (the CCP) is also in line with the US's efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with Taiwan.

Qu Zhaoxiang, a professor at the Institute of Political Science at National Taiwan Normal University, said that the CCP’s "peaceful reunification" was not only taught to Taiwanese, but also to the United States. Beijing’s attitude is telling the United States that although it has increased its military pressure on Taiwan, this is because the United States "back to Asia" is involved in Taiwan affairs, but it has no intention of using force against Taiwan. Qu Zhaoxiang observed that China (the CCP) and the United States and Japan are making preparations.

Qu Zhaoxiang said, "Psychological warfare is also part of the current overall warfare. Therefore, the United States and Japan continue to use various messages, including vaccines for Taiwan, to tell the people of Taiwan that you can rest assured that we will support you. This kind of psychological warfare. When Taiwanese people’s confidence becomes stronger, they will certainly not take any measures to dump the other side."

In addition, Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Wu Zhaoxie said in an exclusive interview with the French media La Liberation on the 1st that there have been systematic and fundamental differences between Taiwan and China. “Taiwan is a democratic government and China is an authoritarian system The country; our government needs to abide by most public opinion, but China is not like that."

Wu Zhaoxie emphasized that Taiwan is a free and open democratic country, and "Taiwan's future can only be determined by the people."

When talking about the possibility of resuming cross-strait dialogue, Wu Zhaoxie said that Taiwan hopes to have dialogue with China on the basis of equality and maintaining the status quo, but Beijing only wants to impose the "one China" principle on Taiwan.

On 1 July, the day of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping mentioned Taiwan twice in his speech. He claimed, "Solving the Taiwan issue and realizing the complete reunification of the motherland are the unswerving historical tasks of the Chinese Communist Party and the common aspiration of all Chinese people. We must adhere to the one-China principle and the '92 Consensus'...resolutely crush any 'Taiwan independence' conspiracy..."

In response to Xi Jinping’s Taiwanese remarks on July 1, the Mainland Affairs Council of Taiwan stated that it rejects the CCP’s one-sided "One China Principle" and the "92 Consensus". Democracy, freedom, and the rule of human rights and the rule of law are the core values that Taiwan society adheres to, and it is very similar to the dictatorship on the mainland in big system differences.

The Mainland Affairs Council of Taiwan emphasized that the CCP’s “one-party autocratic regime suppresses people’s democracy and violates human rights and freedoms. It is now under the pretext of national rejuvenation, and it is becoming more dictatorial internally, and even taking the economic backtrack of “the country advances and the people retreat”; externally. It even tried to interfere with the international order, and even revealed its ambition to become regional and global hegemony. Its historical decision-making errors and persistent harmful actions have caused serious threats to regional security and the global democratic and free system."
