There is no official English translation of the Hong Kong version of National Security Law. The original Hong Kong version is in traditional Chinese characters.
The National Security Law of Hong Kong has been gazetted and the Law Society President Peng Yunxi said on 1 July 2020 that she had read the content of the National Security Law briefly and was very pleased that the Central Government heard the voice of the Law Society, "and adopted many of our opinions." In particular, according to common law principles, the law does not have retrospective effect; in principle, the crimes in the court hearing process are publicly tried and conducted in the form of juries.
Peng Yunxi said that national security laws are generally governed, enforced and punished by the country's central or federal agencies throughout the world. This time she saw that most of the work was performed and prosecuted by the government departments of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the relevant cases were tried by the Hong Kong courts. This reflects the confidence and respect of the central government for the legal system of Hong Kong.
