On 25 June, the Beijing Municipal Government Information Office held a regular press conference for epidemic prevention and control. At the meeting, Wang Guiqiang, Director of the Department of Infectious Diseases of Peking University First Hospital, pointed out that although there was a cluster epidemic in Xinfadi Market in Beijing, and the meat, eggs, fish and seafood in shopping malls are currently safe.

Wang Guiqiang said that the route of infection of covid is still droplet transmission, intimate contact transmission, and aerosol transmission may occur in a relatively closed space. However, there is no evidence that SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted through the digestive tract.

Wang Guiqiang said that it is summer, and it currently emphasizes that the handling of meat, eggs, and other fish needs special attention, not just because of covid, but also other infectious diseases. Therefore, after buying food, it should be cleaned well; second, raw and cooked parts on including cutting boards, knives, utensils, etc., should be separate, otherwise food may be contaminated and cause digestive spread of diseases. At the same time, it is best to eat cooked food. Third, it is important to promote divided meals. Good eating habits and hygiene habits are very important.
