A pediatric isolation ward in Tuen Mun Hospital with patients diagnosed with covid has recently leaked water to the surgical ward downstairs. Two patients in the lower ward were splashed. One of them was quarantined for 14 days and underwent medical supervision on 14 June 2020. The other person will also be transferred to an independent ward for medical supervision on 28 June. According to the news, preliminary investigation revealed that the aging waterproofing material in the shower room of the pediatric isolation ward caused leakage.

A spokesman for Tuen Mun Hospital said on 24 June 2020 that there was a leak on the bathroom floor of the Pediatric Isolation Ward on the fifth floor of the main block, and the water droplets leaked to the lower ceiling, splashing on two male patients on the fourth floor surgical ward on 22 and 23 June from the ceiling of the ward.

The hospital reported the incident to the Center for Health Protection, saying that after the inspection, the experts believed that the risk of infection was not high, but for the sake of prudence, the patient who was splashed was arranged to be placed in an isolation ward to undergo quarantine and medical surveillance on 14 June. His ankle was splashed. The patients were transferred to an independent ward for medical treatment, and were subject to medical supervision on 28 June.

The 6 pediatrics and 12 surgical patients affected in the two wards were arranged to be transferred to other wards on 23 June. The hospital will arrange for the maintenance of the seepage pediatric isolation ward on the 5th floor. It will take several weeks. During this period, another isolation ward will be arranged to receive the pediatric patients to be quarantined.
