July 1st is the 23rd anniversary of the transfer of Hong Kong to Beijing and the first day of the transfer of Hong Kong sovereignty after the adoption of the "National Security Act of the Hong Kong District". Hong Kong people are not afraid of the CCP’s suppression. On the same day, they took to the streets to hold a parade, opposed the Hong Kong version of the National Security Law, and shouted: End the one-party dictatorship!
The Hong Kong Democratic Front has launched the July 1st march for many years, but this year it was opposed by the police. The community even launched a parade at 7 a.m. on July 1st. It was originally scheduled to march from Southorn Stadium to Golden Bauhinia Square. About 20 people including Liang Guoxiong, Gu Siyao and Wu Wenyuan gathered outside the Southton Stadium in Wan Chai.
They held the banner of "ending the one-party dictatorship." There were multiple police vehicles on the scene and dozens of riot police officers. A number of citizens in black were intercepted.
Before the march began, the police declared that due to news that the marchers had dangerous goods, they checked their items one by one. But in the end, no dangerous items such as hydride water were found. Liang Guoxiong said that he was searched one by one for the first time. He also said that he would not change the slogan of the march due to the National Security Law.
The parade finally set off at about 7:55 in the morning and arrived at the periphery of the exhibition at 8:20. They marched along the footpaths and overpasses, shouting slogans along the way, and many unidentified persons along the way took the opportunity to shoot and follow them.
The social people's company marched to the Golden Bauhinia Square blockade and was stopped. Because no one received the petition letter, the marchers burned the letter outside the exhibition on the spot.
Liang Guoxiong said that there was triad harassment during the march and was searched one by one by police officers for the first time, describing it as a "new personnel and new style" after the legislation of the National Security Law. He said that in the past there was a slogan called "End One-Party Dictatorship" and no change was necessary. He believes that Hong Kong people should not be afraid. Huang Haoming also reminded citizens not to be afraid after the implementation of the National Security Law.
