Indonesian netizens have raised concerns over public health as images and videos of large cycling crowds inundating the streets of Central Jakarta on the first Car Free Day (CFD) following months of large-scale restrictions (PSBB) spread on social media.

Many of the cyclists did not put their masks on. Netizens worry that asymptomatic cyclists may spread SARS-CoV-2 to other cyclists.

CFD had been suspended since 15 March 2020 as part of Jakarta administration’s efforts to contain the spread of covid.
