Several months after the suspension of international flights to prevent and control the covid epidemic, Pakistan resumed international flight operations on 20 June 2020.
Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesman Abdul Sattar Hohar said in a statement on the 19th that the government approved international flights to and from most international airports in Pakistan to resume operations on 20 June, except southwest Balochistan flights from Gwadar and Tulbard airports.
The statement said that this permit may be adjusted at any time based on the development of the epidemic situation and the implementation of anti-epidemic measures.
Pakistani Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for National Security Affairs Muid Yusuf told reporters that this decision aims to push tens of thousands of Pakistanis stranded abroad to return home as soon as possible.
Pakistan suspended international flights in March to prevent and control the epidemic.
According to data released by the Pakistani Ministry of Health on the 20th, the cumulative number of newly diagnosed cases in Pakistan exceeds 170,000 and the number of deaths is close to 3,400.
