According to Reuters, Norwegian said on Monday that it had cancelled orders for 92 737MAX and 5 787 Dreamliners, and at the same time terminated the GoldCare service purchase agreement with Boeing.

Norwegian also filed a legal lawsuit requesting Boeing to return the down payment for the aircraft, as well as compensation for losses caused by the 737MAX grounding and 787 aircraft engine problems.

In August 2019, a Norwegian Boeing 787-8 aircraft returned from Rome, Italy, to Los Angeles, the United States. It is reported that the aircraft engine was damaged during the flight, and hundreds of pieces of debris fell from the sky, hitting vehicles, houses and residents on the ground.

The Trent 1000 engine used in the 787-8 was manufactured by Rolls-Royce. Norwegian has been in a dialogue with Loro on compensation issues. Monday's statement did not say whether Norwegian will file a lawsuit against Roro.

Norwegian did not specify how much it will claim from Boeing, but said it has been negotiating compensation with Boeing.

Boeing said that in this challenging period, it is cooperating with Norwegian on the future development path.
