South Korean President Wen Jae-yin said that even if relations between North Korea and South Korea are tense again, South Korea has no intention to impose its system on North Korea, urging North Korea to recommit itself to achieving peace on the peninsula.

According to reports from Bloomberg and Yonhap News Agency, Wen Jae-yin attended and celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Korean War at Seoul Airport in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province on Thursday (25 June 2020). He said that the continued confrontation between the two sides is "a waste of national strength" and that peace and unity must be achieved and the victims in the war must be explained.

At the event, Wen Jae-yin reviewed the Korean War that broke out on 25 June 1950, and issued the above-mentioned call to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. He said, "I hope North Korea can also bravely embark on a journey to end this most tragic war in world history."

Wen Jae-yin said that the competition between the two Korean systems has long ended, and the South Korean side has no intention to impose its democratic system on North Korean Communism. In the future, it will continue to search for the road of symbiosis between South Korea and North Korea. "If we want to talk about unity, we must first achieve peace. Only when peace is lasting can we finally see the door to unity."
