On 11 and 12 June 2020, Xicheng District and Fengtai District of Beijing reported three cases of covid diagnoses, and the patients have visited two markets, which were shut down.

Within two days, Beijing officially notified three confirmed cases of covid. None of the three patients had a history of contact with foreigners or Hubei personnel.

The diagnosed patients in Xicheng District of Beijing had purchased at Xinfadi Market in Fengtai District on 3 June 2020. Xinfadi Market closed its beef and mutton hall on 12 June.

At the same time, the Beijing-Shenzhen seafood market was also closed. Although the market did not specify the specific reasons, it was reported that the confirmed case in Fengtai District was an employee of the China Meat and Food Comprehensive Research Center, and the two employees had gone to Xinfadi and the Beijing-Shenzhen Seafood Market perform random inspection checks.

Due to the emergence of newly diagnosed cases in Beijing for two consecutive days, as well as the new cases in Xicheng District, there was close contact with a local fourth-grade student in a primary school. The plan to resume classes in grades one to three of primary school is suspended, as well as offline courses and group activities of off-campus training institutions.

According to internal sources, a fourth confirmed case was found in Daoxiang Village, Beijing. The Beijing Municipal Government issued a notice on 12 June 2020 to fully investigate the fresh and frozen meat trading market.
