According to Thai Airways International, it has opened a cafe on 2 September 2020.
In order to make the customers who come to shop with more "sense of presence", Thai Airways directly moved the most iconic purple seats into the coffee shop. There are also model airplanes on site, and even set up a boarding ladder at the entrance of the restaurant to let the public relive memories of boarding Thai Airways' flights.
The cafe is located on the second floor of the Thai Airways headquarters in Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road, Bangkok. The cafe sells creamy bacon egg nib spaghetti for 129 baht (about 17 ringgits), pan-fried chicken with Indian pancakes or basmati rice for 145 baht (about 19 ringgits) and other foods. Customers who dine at the Thai Airways Cafe can also get a special " Boarding pass".
The covid epidemic has put Thai Airways in trouble. The Ministry of Finance sold Thai Airways shares in May, reducing its shareholding to below 50%, which means that Thai Airways no longer has the status of a state-owned enterprise.
In addition, the business reorganization plan submitted by Thai Airways is still being heard by the Central Bankruptcy Court.
Officials from the Ministry of Communications revealed last week that, after preliminary investigations, the cause of THAI’s serious losses was related to internal management negligence and corruption.
