Chinese disease control expert Zeng Guang revealed that preliminary results of gene sequencing showed that the virus strains in Beijing's outbreak are not of the type found in other parts of China.

According to The Financial Times, Professor Zeng Guang, a member of the high-level expert group of National Health Commission of PRC and former chief scientist of epidemiology at the China CDC, on 13 June 2020 revealed that the virus genes have been isolated. He said, "The preliminary results of gene sequencing show that the virus strains are not like the popular types in China. Two samples have been tested. We must continue to expand testing, which is very important to determine the direction of the epidemic."

According to Zeng Guang (above), the Beijing epidemic is currently undergoing an important test. This test may be the biggest test after the country’s epidemic is relatively calm. "If it is not handled well, it will form a second wave of the epidemic. Because Beijing is as big as the country. The majority of the population is susceptible. Fortunately, Beijing found early and acted quickly."

Zeng Guang believes that the work of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government is commendable. "The work efficiency is very high in a short period of time. Last night everyone worked overnight. This kind of large-scale investigation and complex control is a big social project."

Zeng Guang is also optimistic about the prospects of epidemic prevention and control. In his view, Beijing's handling of the epidemic has made great progress compared with the initial epidemic in Wuhan. Although the epidemic is more complicated, it has entered from the first moment. In the wartime state, the action is strong, and he can listen to the opinions of experts.
