Female patient wear mask for 4 hours on the bus to reduce transmission

Deng Huihong, Director of the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said that there are 63 close contacts of Guangdong Lufeng's first confirmed case, of which 3 were diagnosed as asymptomatic infections, namely the daughter, son and niece of the confirmed case. The confirmed case took a Didi car from her residence in Shenzhen on 6 August, and took the subway and bus to Lufeng's hometown. She emphasized that although she was in a sealed environment on the bus for 4 hours, she wore a mask all the way, which greatly reduced the risk of transmission. After returning to Lufeng from Shenzhen, due to eating at the same table with relatives, close conversations and life contact, many relatives eventually became infected.

Deng Huihong said that according to the latest study, wearing a mask in an environment with a certain risk of transmission can reduce the risk by more than 80%. Since 6 February, Guangdong Province has been better in the habit of wearing masks scientifically, and the effect has been more obvious. According to the monitoring of various disease control centers in the province, in the first half of this year, the incidence of respiratory infectious diseases other than covid in the province dropped by 16.39% compared with the same period in 2019.

As of 8 o'clock on 22 August, Shenzhen and Shanwei, had tested 3254 samples of foreign-related environmental conditions among 145,000 samples from Shanwei inspectors and 685,900 samples from Shenzhen inspectors. They have reported 8 asymptomatic infections. Except for positive, the others are negative. Duan Yufei added that since the key population is still under medical observation, there will be sporadic cases or asymptomatic infections in the future. Judging from the current risk assessment, the epidemic is generally controllable, and the possibility of spreading or spreading to other cities is low.
