The U.S. Democratic Party Congress passed the 2020 policy program, in which it has repeatedly expressed its stance on the CCP and even deleted the "One China Policy", leaving only abiding by the "Taiwan Relations Act." However, it also made it clear that it opposes the US-China tariff war and the new cold war, and seeks to ease relations with the CCP.

On 20 August the Democratic National Congress, which was held via video, entered its fourth day. This time the party congress has nominated Biden as the party’s presidential candidate, and another important agenda is the adoption of the Democratic Party’s 2020 policy.

According to the Taiwan United Daily News, in the 92-page Democratic Party’s latest party platform, there have been major changes in the formulation of Taiwan policy. The party's 2016 party platform stated that “The Democratic Party will abide by the'One China' policy and the'Taiwan Relations Act' and will continue to support the peaceful settlement of cross-strait issues. This is consistent with the wishes and best interests of the Taiwanese people.” But in the 2020 party platform In this sentence, "One China" is deleted, and only "The Democratic Party abides by the'Taiwan Relations Law'".

The so-called "One China" policy is the Chinese Communist Party's proposition, while the US "Taiwan Relations Act" expresses support for Taiwan's Republic of China. This change in the Democratic Party's party platform shows that foreign policy is inclined to Taiwan. This is basically consistent with the recent diplomatic trends of the Trump administration.

Compared with the 2016 party program, the Democratic Party's 2020 party program has significantly increased its focus on China. The new party platform stated that it will respond to the CCP under the guidance of the US national interests and the interests of allies, and will insist on countering the CCP’s actions in economic, security, and human rights. At the same time, it will protect US workers from China’s unfair trade and will cooperate with the world. Together, the allies are fighting back against regimes that try to weaken international standards such as the CCP.

However, the new party platform clearly opposes the so-called "unilateral tariff war" or "new cold war trap", believing that such policies "exaggerate China's weight" and "harm the United States." The new party platform stated that when handling US-China relations, the United States "must be confident" and "seek cooperation in areas of common interest" with China.

The Voice of America quoted media analysts as saying that the new Democratic Party's platform opposes the US-China tariff war and the new Cold War, and requires alliances to "renegotiate" with the CCP. This runs counter to the current policies of the Trump administration and requires vigilance.

The report questioned whether it was the big consortium that bought out the Democratic Party’s meridians, or whether the Democratic Party had no intention of fundamentally changing the relationship between the United States and China. If Biden comes to power, US-China relations will ease, and this may just fall into the trap of the CCP.

Former North Carolina Republican congressman Fu Jiangxiu believes that Democrats are now avoiding talking about the CCP too much, and even confronting Trump in terms of China policy, because they do not want to acknowledge Trump's credit.

She revealed that she had talked with many Democratic friends in private, and they all agreed with Trump's approach to the CCP, and believed that Trump has done better than all Democratic presidents in this regard. But because of partisanship, they don't want to highlight Trump's credit too much, because they have now been forced to antagonize Trump to be "politically correct."
