According to Ming Pao, the Hong Kong mass SARS-CoV-2 testing program begins at 8 am on 1 September 2020. About two hours after the start of the test, Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor told reporters before the executive meeting that so far more than 10,000 citizens have been tested, including herself and the Secretary General. She also said that non-official members of the guild are being tested.

At one of the testing centers, Sha Tin Yuen Wo Road Sports Centre, citizens have arrived one after another from 8 am this morning, waiting in line for testing outside the venue. In the meantime, a staff of the testing center reminded citizens to keep a distance of 1.5 meters in line, but some citizens ignored it. A body temperature monitoring station was set up at the entrance of the gymnasium, and hand sanitizer was provided. After the test, all citizens were given a pack of masks.

Classmate Zeng, a 22-year-old college student, said that the sampling process took about 5 to 6 minutes without discomfort. He said that the purpose of participating in the test is to find invisible patients in the community. Regarding the question of the privacy of the test data, he believes that the government has explained that the data will be destroyed in one month, so he is not worried. As for some people questioning the risk of "false positives" in the test, he believes that the Department of Health will review positive samples, so there is no doubt.

67-year-old Mr. Chen pointed out that each sampling area in the venue is at least 1.5 meters away. There is no partition in the middle, and the venue has "good air-conditioning" and good ventilation. He said that when he took the throat swab, he touched the "bell" and was "somewhat nauseated." Fortunately, he deliberately skipped breakfast this morning. Mrs. Chen, 66, thinks the sampling process is comfortable. When asked if she would stay at home for 14 days after the test, she said yes, and asked her husband who also did the test to buy food. Mr. Chen said that he only buys food once a week, and he is not worried about infecting others with the virus.
