In the morning of 8 January 2021, the B737-300 aircraft of North-western Cargo, the first local cargo airline in Shaanxi, carried precision equipment such as integrated circuits from Xi'an Xianyang International Airport to Shanghai Pudong Airport to complete the maiden flight of 9601.
North-western Cargo is the first local cargo airline in Shaanxi. It is jointly funded and established by Shaanxi Provincial Transportation Investment Group Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Airport Civil Aviation Industry Investment Co., Ltd., Hangzhou YTO Cargo Airlines Co., Ltd. and Western Airport Group Co., Ltd.
The IATA code of North-western Cargo is CO, the IATA settlement code is 966, the ICAO code is NWC, the Chinese call sign Sui and Tang Dynasties, and the English call sign TANG. The company's first freighter B-2959 is the youngest aircraft in the domestic Boeing 737-300F freight fleet. The air routes Xi'an - Pudong and Xi'an - Hangzhou will be operated by B737-300 aircraft.
According to the plan, North-western Cargo plans to apply for international operation qualifications and open international cargo routes in due course. It is planned to gradually expand the company's fleet with 757-200 as the main model in the next 5 years. By the end of 2025, it will strive to reach the scale of 20 all-cargo aircrafts, open 30 domestic and international routes, and complete a total of 260,000 tons of cargo and mail transportation. The airline plans to own the largest cargo fleet and the most cargo routes at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport.
It is understood that, as the first local cargo airline in Shaanxi, the establishment and commissioning of North-western Cargo will inject new vitality into the development of Shaanxi, and will help accelerate Xi’an’s international integrated transportation hub, aviation hub and global international postal express hub cluster. It is of great significance to construct and create an international trade channel with high efficiency, low cost and excellent service in inland areas.
