On 8 January 2021, the Kenyan Ministry of Health issued a statement stating that in order to comply with the relevant requirements of the African Union and the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Trusted Travel Initiative, the Kenyan Ministry of Health will start on 11 January 2021 implement online verification of the SARS-CoV-2 test certificate. Specific requirements are as follows:

For all travelers planning to leave Kenya, nucleic acid testing is required before departure (currently all qualified testing agencies in Kenya have joined the "Trusted Travel Initiative" online verification system). After the test is completed, the passenger will receive a confirmation SMS from PanaBIOS and an email from the testing agency or admin@panabios.org. The email contains instructions for the passenger to apply for a "travel code" (Travel Code) on the trustedtravel.panabios.org website link. If the passenger’s test result meets Kenya’s exit requirements, the system will issue a “travel code” to the passenger online. Before leaving the country, passengers need to show their "travel code" for inspection by airlines and customs quarantine departments. From 11 January 2021, the Kenyan government will not allow passengers who cannot show their "travel code" to leave the country.

For all passengers planning to enter Kenya, they must complete a nucleic acid test before entering and obtain a "travel code" under the "Trusted Travel Initiative" online verification system. For passengers whose country of origin has not yet joined the "Trusted Travel Initiative", they should conduct online verification of test results through the "Global Haven Partnership" (website www.globalhaven.org) system supported by the United Nations Development Program.
