Dr Yan Limeng answered the host of War Room Pandemic Episode 316 that hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) has been used in the People's Republic of China as early as December 2019 to treat covid, way before the world is alerted in January 2020 about the newly-emerged disease.
Yan Limeng also said that the World Health Organization (WHO) has listed HCQ as one of the safe drugs for medical use during the past 20 years. Children benefit most from HCQ and she questioned why WHO has stopped medical frontline experts from using the drug for mild covid cases and early prevention of covid in the US.
HCQ is easy to use, it is cheap, safe and fatalities arisen from it are low in countries such as Egypt, India and Indonesia, Yan Limeng declared. She does not see why the US should stop using HCQ as a drug at the early stage of prevention and control against covid. She said that since it is established as a safe drug, its usefulness on situations in covid such as cytokine storms and replication of SARS-CoV-2 in the human bodies, more money in terms of grants should be "donated" to the institutes' research study of HCQ as medicine in the early stage of prevention on an emergency basis rather than towards the development of vaccines and new drugs.
Yan Limeng believes that WHO has stopped propagating the medical clinical trails of HCQ as HCQ brings a problem for people to use funding in their studies to develop new beneficial drugs and vaccines in future. She points out that while private organizations and universities are investing a lot in vaccine development and trials, for instance the US has invested 86 billion US Dollars in vaccine development, many have turned to HCQ to help themselves since it is cheaper and more accessible than waiting for vaccines to be developed.
Yan Limeng believes that WHO has disregarded HCQ's beneficial use in treatment of SARS-CoV-2 as it is cheaper and anyone investing in HCQ development will earn less than vaccine development which promise "more money", "reputation", "more promotion". She raises the example of the Hong Kong P3 laboratory where it received emergency grant from Bill Gates Foundation to invest in vaccine development to "get huge amount of money and increase (their) reputation and more promotion" whereas it is difficult to get yields if they had focused on increasing the number of HCQ approved and available in the market. She commented "it is a sad truth" since the doctors are discouraged from using the drug to treat early symptoms of covid.
