On 8 August 2020, Dr Yan Limeng appeared on Steve Bannon's War Room Pandemic to answer an audience's question.
Twitter user Iana Lee tweeted to the host Jack Marxey since covid is still roaming in the US and not acting like the seasonal flu, she wanted to know if it might be weaker and burn itself out. Jack conveyed Iana's question to Yan.
Yan Limeng doubted SARS-CoV-2 will become weaker too soon due to the extremely strong binding ability of the coronavirus to human cells unless the US entered the second wave or third wave of the pandemic. Besides, She urged strongly the audience to use their knowledge to know out how the Zhoushan bat coronavirus was modified to become the lethal virus against humans.
Yan Limeng initially replied that the audience's idea that SARS-CoV-2 might weaken is based on the theory that "this virus (SARS-CoV-2) is based on virus from nature. After natural evolution, this virus (pathogen) meets the host (human), who is shown to be the best host for SARS-CoV-2 but this (infectivity) seems to be based on law of nature."
Yan elaborated that her scientific team did not see SARS-CoV-2's character is natural, "According to what I said before, we analyzed the genome and saw the evidence. This virus did not come from nature and it has already been modified through the lab (those kind of techniques). They even leave evidence inside". She did not elaborate the techniques and evidence but would do so in her upcoming report.
Yan Limeng briefly said, "In my scientific team report, I will show it to people. There I want to briefly tell you if you expect this adaptation between the virus and the host, after a while the mutant and also the balance from the immunity between the virus and the humans made weaker, I don't think it (virus becoming weaker) will become too soon unless we see it's already in the second wave or third wave happening in the world in many places like Hong Kong or later even come to the US' some places."
Yan Limeng urged everyone to figure out how SARS-CoV-2 can become the pandemic, how it likes humans so much by examining the origin of the virus. She said, "That's why I confer people to come out and check the origin, to use your knowledge to verify the origin of this virus is not from nature. It is based on the PLA-owned Zhoushan bat coronavirus."
Yan described SARS-CoV-2's characteristics. It "likes to attach to human ACE2 which is receptor all over the human body, in different types of organs and blood vessels". It is very lethal because it binds to human cells and also gives "thumb-string damages" to the human body, for example cytokin storms and later induce thrombosis.
Yan also warned that if the natural evolution gap is expected to get weaker, "the human global health will be in a big danger". She urged experts to find out how the PLA laboratory modified the Zhoushan bat coronavirus and find out "what kind of character has been obtained".
Based on the above findings if any, pharmaceutical drug producers can then develop the relevant drugs or find out whether the existing useful drugs such as hydroxychloroquine can be applied on different stages like early prevention and early stage of treatment and try to develop the vaccine. "These are ways to think about to overcome the virus", Yan Limeng ended.
