The first phase of the Long Thanh International Airport project includes a runway with a length of 4,000 meters and a width of 75 meters, taxiways, and parking airports. At the same time, the construction of an average annual passenger throughput of 25 million passengers, covering an area of 373,000 square meters, construction of a 123-meter-high air console and various auxiliary projects; an average annual cargo throughput of 1.2 million tons of cargo terminal, aircraft meal supply area.
The total investment in the first phase of the Long Thanh International Airport project reached 109.111 trillion VND (approximately US$4.664 billion). The construction period of the project is from 2020 to 2025.
Long Thanh International Airport will reach the 4F class international airport according to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) classification. It is one of the important airports in Vietnam and will become a regional international aviation transit center.
Prior to this, on 20 October 2020, Dong Nai Province had handed over 2,589,15 ha of land to the Ministry of Transport to coordinate management.
Long Thanh International Airport is located 40 kilometers east of Ho Chi Minh City. The airport is expected to reduce the load on Tan Son Nhat International Airport. At present, Tan Son Nhat International Airport, located in the largest center in the south, is the country's largest airport, but it is undergoing long-term overload operations.
