Yang Yi, the only Chinese winner of the Japanese Akutagawa Award and author of the Japanese book "My Enemy Xi Jinping" criticized the CCP's dictatorship, during an interview with Japanese media. She pointed out that the spread of the virus SARS-CoV-2 around the world was due to the CCP regime’s response methods and the nature of concealment. She also criticized that the Hong Kong version of the National Security Law and other policies on Hong Kong are the persecution imposed by the Chinese Communist Party on the people of Hong Kong. For this reason, she firmly opposed Xi Jinping's visit to Japan as a state guest.

According to the Sankei Shimbun, the author Yang Yi pointed out in her new work that the spread of SARS-CoV-2 to the world was a "human disaster" caused by the political failure of the Chinese Communist Party. As for the reason for publishing the book, she stated that "silence is tantamount to an accomplice of the Chinese Communist Party" and "I don't know when you may be threatened by silence. Therefore, it is better to say it before then."

Yang Yi said, “I originally expected political changes to occur after China’s middle class exceeded a certain number, but in fact it has been developing in the opposite direction, with increasingly serious control and dictatorship.” She also pointed out that "the Chinese Communist Party directly intervenes in Hong Kong through the Hong Kong version of the National Security Law, and it also applies to foreigners. If the United States sanctions the Chinese Communist Party on trade issues, as a retaliation, the Chinese Communist Party may arrest as many Americans in Hong Kong as it wants. It's more terrifying than this."

Therefore, she strongly opposed Xi Jinping's visit to Japan as a state guest. She also said that the CCP must explain and apologize for the pandemic, otherwise even if Xi Jinping comes to Japan as a state guest, he will not be welcomed by the Japanese people.

Yang Yi, born in Harbin, China, studied in Japan in 1987. In 2008, she won the 139th Akutagawa Literature Award for her novel "A Morning Soaked in Time", becoming the first Chinese winner of the Japanese Akutagawa Literature Award since its establishment in 1935.
