According to the website of the National Health Commission, on 30 July 2020, the State Council’s Comprehensive Unit for the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism for the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic issued the "Technical Specifications for Environmental Monitoring of the Novel Coronavirus in the Agricultural Trade (Market Trade) Market" (hereinafter referred to as "Specifications"), proposes to conduct virus monitoring on key large-scale bazaars (especially markets that sell fresh products) once a week, and for the remaining bazaars that need to be monitored once per month.
The "Specifications" put forward technical requirements for the whole process of monitoring objects, monitoring content, sample sampling, testing and laboratory biosafety.
Firstly, focus on and monitor large-scale agricultural (bazaar) markets with regional radiation capabilities, especially meat, seafood and aquatic products trading stalls that include freezing and cold storage functions, or markets with wet and confined spaces.
Secondly, monitor the key stalls in the market, the surface of the facilities, utensils, throat swabs, clothing surfaces, hands, internal surfaces of refrigerators and freezers for food storage, meat, poultry, and seafood sold in the market. Sewage in the drainage system, parts of public spaces that are in contact with more people, tools or objects that frequently move across regions, and virus detection in environments where staff gather and poor ventilation.
Thirdly, specify sample requirements and sampling methods for sample sampling.
Fourthly, test to make provisions for sample packaging and storage, pre-treatment of sewage water samples, nucleic acid extraction, and implementation of fluorescent quantitative PCR.
Fifthly, the laboratory safety level will be managed with reference to the relevant content of the latest version of the "Novel Coronavirus Laboratory Biosafety Guidelines (Second Edition)".
