The United States is considering banning the entry of Chinese Communist Party members and their families. The spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hua Chunying and the editor-in-chief of the Global Times Hu Xijin all claimed that this policy is "against the Chinese." The United States tried to distinguish the China Communist Party (CCP) from the Chinese people, but the CCP authorities tried their best to tie the CCP and the people together. In this regard, some scholars said that after the U.S. policy toward China has shifted, the Chinese Communist Party is afraid that this will cause a huge trend of "eccentric movement" in Chinese society, which may further affect the hearts of the entire society.

The United States plans to completely ban the entry of Chinese Communist Party members and their families into the United States. Hua Chunying, spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at a press conference on 17 July 2020 that if this rumour was true, the United States was "against 1.4 billion people." "Global Times" editor-in-chief Hu Xijin also claimed on Weibo on 17 July that this US policy was against the Chinese people.

So, why is the Chinese Communist Party trying to bind the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese people together? Chen Kuide, executive chairman of the Princeton Chinese Society in the United States, believes that this possible policy "should hit the CCP’s sore spots," so the CCP authorities hurriedly tied the Chinese Communist Party and the people together.

He explained that the U.S. government’s policy shift in recent years is dedicated to distinguishing the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese people. Many criticisms or policy implementations have pointed the finger at the CCP. Hua Chunying and Hu Xijin said, precisely indicating that they have a positive attitude towards the U.S. policy shift but they were so terrified and frightened that they kidnapped themselves with the Chinese people, saying this was against the Chinese people."

Chen Kuide further stated that some people may therefore keep their distance from the Chinese Communist Party or even gradually separate from the Chinese Communist Party. "Make society more clearly distinguish these people who oppress and ride on the people from ordinary people. This is what they (the CCP) fear."

The CCP’s corruption in the past has made some Chinese people clearly believe that there is no benefit in tying themselves to the CCP. In addition, the United States is considering sanctions. As a member of the CCP, communication and development with the international community may also be restricted. There will be problems with entry. Chen Kuide said that after the U.S. policy toward China has shifted, the Chinese Communist Party authorities are afraid that this will cause a huge trend of "eccentric movement" in Chinese society, which may further affect the hearts of the entire society.

Xia Ming, a professor of political science at the City University of New York, said that the CCP government was not elected, not representative politics, and was not "entrusted by the people", so it was not qualified to speak on behalf of the people of the whole country.

Many netizens said on Weibo that they "support American policy", so that there is no need to worry about corrupt officials fleeing the United States, and it can also prevent the outflow of bribery funds, and indirectly contribute to China's anti-corruption.

According to a report by VOA, US Secretary of Defense Mark T. Esper stated in a telephone interview on the 18th that China is the United States' prime strategic competitor. Esper said that a rising China does not worry American leaders, but a rising China under the rule of the Chinese Communist Party does worry the United States.

He said, "They put the party first." "The Chinese army is loyal to the party. Our army swears to protect the Constitution. Our ambitions are very different, and our overall values are very different. If we are not aware of the long-term challenges and possibilities that China poses The threat posed to us, we may find that the world we live in is different from the world we wish to live in."

Foreign media reported on 15 July that the U.S. government is considering a total ban on Chinese Communist Party members and their families from traveling to the U.S., and deportation of those already in the U.S. The CCP claims to have 92 million party members. According to preliminary estimates within the US government, as many as 270 million Chinese may be affected.

The New York Times reported that the proposed plan is also aimed at the CCP's military and state-owned enterprise leaders, most of whom are also CCP members. This plan is still in the discussion stage, and there is still a chance of being rejected by US President Trump. Spokespersons for the White House National Security Council and the State Department declined to comment on the news, and a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security did not respond to questions from reporters.

The news broke that search interest for the term "quit the party" surged, and the keyword popularity of "Google Trends" showed that the popularity had risen to a perfect score of 100 by 8 pm on the 16th, and most of these searches came from mainland China.

The New York Times report also quoted experts as saying that because of the huge number of people involved, it would arouse public anger among Chinese people. But the fact seems to be quite the opposite. As soon as this explosive news came out, it caused a lot of applause and joy on the Internet. Mainland netizens thank Trump, saying that his move is welcomed by the common people, and Western netizens also said "it should have been so".

According to Epoch Times, the current "Immigration Law" in the United States has prohibited communist members from immigrating to the United States, but it has not prohibited communist members from entering the country. The U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act passed during the Cold War stipulates that Communist Party members and members of their affiliated organizations shall not immigrate to the United States. The 1990 "Immigration Law" still retains provisions prohibiting the immigration of Communists.

Although many immigrants from mainland China concealed their Communist status and obtained the right of abode, there are also cases where Communist Party members were exposed and punished after immigration. On January 14, 2016, Lu Lin, a Chinese man in Naperville, Illinois, was accused by the U.S. federal government for concealing his identity as a Communist Party member and his relationship with the CCP’s intelligence department when he applied for American citizenship. "Immigration fraud" and the citizenship was cancelled in 2018.
