Recently, the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic in mainland China seems to be making a comeback. Following the outbreaks in Beijing and Xinjiang, 3 confirmed cases and 12 asymptomatic infections occurred in Dalian. According to official reports, the three confirmed cases have not left Dalian in the past 14 days, and the source of infection is still unknown. In addition, the CCP’s official data has been questioned about concealment, which has raised concerns about whether a new round of the epidemic has quietly occurred.

According to the official website of the National Health Commission of the Communist Party of China, 22 new covid cases were confirmed in mainland China on 22 July 2020. Among them, there were 19 local cases, 18 in Xinjiang and 1 in Liaoning; 3 cases were imported from abroad.

According to the official website of the Liaoning Health Commission, the local case is a 58-year-old man surnamed Shi who now lives in Xigang District, Dalian. He had a fever and diarrhea for 3 days and went to a designated medical institution in Dalian for treatment on July 21. The virus nucleic acid test was positive the next day, combined with the clinical symptoms, and he was diagnosed as a common confirmed case of covid. The report also stated that the man has been transferred to the Dalian Center for isolation and treatment of the Provincial Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Centralized Treatment Center.

According to the Daily Economic News report, the above-mentioned confirmed man is an employee of Dalian Kaiyang Seafood, and his main job is packaging. At present, Kaiyang Seafood has closed business, and all employees in the packaging workshop have been isolated.

On 23 July 23, Dalian officials notified two new confirmed covid cases and 12 asymptomatic infections. They are all close contacts of the aforementioned 58-year-old man. Two new cases were diagnosed as a 39-year-old woman and a 50-year-old woman. The former lives in Beishan Building, Dalianwan Street, Ganjingzi District, and is an employee of Jinyang Metal Co., Ltd. in Dalian Development Zone. At about 17:00 on July 21, the patient went to the Dalian Hospital of Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University. The nucleic acid test was positive in the morning of 22 July. On the same day, the laboratory of the Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention checked positive. He was diagnosed after consultation and was transferred to a designated hospital for isolation and treatment.

The latter is also a resident of Dalianwan Street, Ganjingzi District, who is engaged in freelance work. She developed fever and muscle aches 7 days ago. At 8:30 on July 22, she went to Liaoyu Hospital for treatment, and the nucleic acid test was positive. On the same day, the laboratory of the Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention was positive. She was diagnosed after consultation and is currently in stable condition and has been transferred to a designated hospital for isolation and treatment.

CCTV reported that the three confirmed cases all reported that they had not left Dalian 14 days before the onset of illness, and had no history of contact with people traveling to and from Dalian in key areas or overseas.

It is worth noting that this is after the Beijing epidemic and salmon were linked, the official once again deliberately emphasized the relationship between the seafood cold chain  and the virus. But so far, no virus has been directly detected on seafood. The Daily Business News quoted a senior person in the seafood industry as saying that the main reason is to find the cause. Dalian has not yet found out the infection route of the new cases. It is not certain that the infected cases have a clear relationship with the seafood cold chain, and it is necessary to wait for the official disclosure of information.

The outbreak of the epidemic in Dalian has made the Dalian authorities like a big enemy. Many Dalian netizens said on Weibo that some schools and companies have forced to wear masks when they go out. Cinemas and theatres that had been closed for more than half a year and were greatly injured just opened in Dalian on 22 July and they were forced to close again. Dalian’s iconic cinema Wanda Cinema was originally planned to open on 24 July, this time it was a waste of time. According to a report by the Peninsula Morning Post, refunds of movie tickets sold at various theaters in Dalian are currently being processed, and the restoration time will not be notified by the authorities.

In addition, cultural venues such as Dalian Cultural Center, Dalian Xigang Gymnasium, Dalian Korean Culture and Art Center are closed from 23 July, and the opening hours will be notified separately.
