It is faster, safer and more resource-saving than the general test box. The first local SARS-CoV-2 detection kit can be tested after collecting swab samples without waiting for the sample to be processed. The test results can be released within an hour.

In the afternoon of 18 July 2020, Singapore's DSO National Laboratories and Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) announced that they have jointly developed a test kit called "RESOLUTE", which has been assigned to some local testing experiments for room use. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) detection technology commonly used in China must first add reagents to the swab sample and wait for the extraction of viral ribonucleic acid (RNA) before it can be put into a special machine for testing. It usually takes time 2.5 hours or more.

In contrast, the new detection kit can completely skip the process of extracting viral RNA, which not only allows the recipient to get the results in a significantly shorter time, but also simplifies the technical requirements of the testing laboratory, saving materials and manpower. Cost and testing process is also safer.
