As of 11 July 2020, SARS-CoV-2 has caused 556,211 deaths worldwide. The pandemic, which has ravaged the world for nearly half a year, still cannot see the end, showing different peak curves in various countries. The latest research shows that the coronavirus has been significantly mutated. A mutation of SARS-CoV-2 called "D614G" will make the virus more terrible. Danny Altman, a professor of immunology at Imperial College London in the UK, called the situation "very, very terrible" and said "the vaccine is not so easy to get."

On 2 July, the latest research published in the well-known journal "Cell" magazine showed that the Wuhan pneumonia virus currently circulating worldwide has been mutated. Researchers at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, Duke University in North Carolina, and the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom collaborated to analyze the genome sequence of Wuhan pneumonia virus. The results showed that 29% of the viruses The D614G mutation appeared in the sample. This mutation in the S-spike protein will allow the virus to grasp more keys to open the door of human cells, and more easily penetrate into the human body, increasing the virus's infectivity by 3 to 6 times.

On 6 July, Zhang Wenhong, head of the Shanghai Medical Treatment Expert Group of Wuhan Pneumonia Epidemic and Director of the Infection Department of Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, quoted an article on the public account of Huashan Infection in his Weibo article, "Some scholars have proposed D614G Mutations and disease mortality have a strong correlation, but still stay in statistical correlation analysis." The statistical results depend on the expansion of sample data, the mortality rate of viral mutations, humans are currently under observation.

On the same day, Danny Altmann, an immunology professor from Imperial College London in the UK, said on the CNBC program that only 10% to 15% of people infected with viruses in cities and towns may become immunized. "This is a very deceptive virus, its immunity is very chaotic, and the life cycle of antibodies is very short."

Danny Altman believes that the second wave of covid will come, and the situation is "very, very terrible", and he said that "the vaccine is not so easy to get."

On 9 July, CNN reported that American infectious disease expert Fauci said at an event hosted on Capitol Hill that day, "It is not an exaggeration to say that covid is really a perfect storm and an infectious disease. It is the most terrible nightmare for public health personnel. SARS-CoV-2 is a virus with amazing ability to spread, and the speed of its spread is really amazing."

"From those who are asymptomatic to those who eventually enter intensive care or even die. Therefore, how to make the virus truly under control has become a very difficult thing." Fauci added.
