South Korean media recently revealed that the number of North Koreans infected with SARS-CoV-2 is increasing, and the virus has killed at least 500 people, and more than 390,000 people need to be quarantined.

The number of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 is still increasing globally. Recent official data from Reuters shows that nearly 13 million cases have been diagnosed outside of China. The North Korean regime has so far claimed that the country has "zero diagnosis", but because the totalitarian government's information is not transparent, there is widespread suspicion that the authorities are hiding the epidemic.

South Korea’s Chosun Jitbo (Korea Daily) quoted North Korean sources on 12 July that as of the end of June, at least 500 people in North Korea had died due to infection with SARS-CoV-2, and as many as 390,000 people had to be quarantined.

The source also revealed that the current death toll from North Korea's virus infection is increasing, and the North Korean authorities have rewritten the case of death from infection with the Chinese Communist Party virus as "acute pneumonia" to conceal the spread of the epidemic, and cremated all the dead bodies.

The country’s top leader, Kim Jong Un, previously announced to the world that North Korea “has successfully survived the threat of SARS-CoV-2” and claimed that “no one has been diagnosed with infection” in the country.

Although Kim Jong-un's remarks are very questionable, the World Health Organization (WHO) still stood up to endorse Kim Jong-un in early April. WHO confirmed at the time that North Korea did not have any confirmed cases, and only more than 500 people needed to be isolated.
