The last governor of Hong Kong, Chris Patten, recently criticized Chief Executive Lin Zheng Yue'e as "a very disappointing traitor" in Hong Kong's history. He pointed out that the implementation of the "Hong Kong version of the National Security Law" by the CCP is to destroy Hong Kong. The purpose is to intimidate Hong Kong people and try to prevent the democrats from winning again in the September Legislative Council election.

In an exclusive interview with the US Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC) on 7 July, Patten criticized Carrie as "a lamentable quisling figure" in Hong Kong's history.

Lin Zhengyue recently said that the implementation of the "Hong Kong version of the National Security Law" is to quell the anti-send China campaign that began last year. Patten believes that if the Hong Kong government establishes an open investigation committee to investigate the reasons for the outbreak of protest and the way the (government) handles it, as the people have called for, the problem has already been resolved. However, Carrie turned a deaf ear to this, leading to constant struggle in Hong Kong.

Chris Patten said that Carrie Lam, like many people in Hong Kong who support the National Security Law, has family members with foreign passports. These people suppress the freedom of Hong Kong. When they know that the situation has deteriorated, they have foreign passports and can fly away, but most Hong Kong people do not have this condition.

He also pointed out that the implementation of the "Hong Kong version of the National Security Law" by the CCP is destroying Hong Kong. Hong Kong society has long relied on the rule of law, freedom of speech and freedom of capital movement, but two of them have been destroyed by the CCP.

Peng Dingkang quoted the American Sinologist Lin Pei Rui as saying that the CCP governs the country with fear rather than the rule of law. The values of Hong Kong’s rule of law and judicial independence were completely destroyed by the CCP.

He also said that Beijing actually passed the National Security Law to intimidate Hong Kong people and tried to prevent the democrats from winning again in the September legislative elections.
