Hawaiian Airlines flies to Changi Airport from Taoyuan on 16 May 2021

Report by : Gan Yung Chyan, KUCINTA SETIA

Passenger aircraft of China Airlines' fleet have been grounded for 14 days to quarantine pilots for covid after a spike of covi infections involving its pilots returning from Europe. Therefore it has to 'borrow' aircraft from partner airlines to serve its overseas markets.

On 16 May 2021, according to Changi Airport, one of China Airlines' code-sharing partner airlines, Hawaiian Airlines is bringing passengers from Taoyuan on behalf of China Airlines.

As of reporting time in the morning of 16 May, according to flightaware and Changi Airport, Hawaiian Airlines flight HA2853 departs from Taoyuan for Singapore at 7.50 am, touches down in Singapore at 12.25 pm before taking off from Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3 for Taoyuan Airport Terminal 1 at 1.25 pm and arriving in Taoyuan at 6.20 pm under flight HA2854.

The corresponding flight pair code of HA2853/HA2854 is China Airlines' CI753/CI754. Hawaiian Airlines is China Airlines' code-sharing partner on the return flight to Singapore from Taoyuan.

Changi Airport's web-site shows China Airlines Cargo still operating freighter flights to Singapore from Taoyuan twice a day despite the two-weeks flight ban. It shows the ban  enforced on China Airlines by the Taoyuan authorities is on its passenger routes.

Earlier last week, according to World Airline News, China Airlines expresses worry that the flight ban on its fleet will cause an impact to its worldwide cargo operations.
