Raffles Hospital patient diagnosed positive

Raffles Hospital confirmed that a patient in the hospital has been diagnosed with covid.

Raffles Medical Group posted on Facebook this morning (8 May 2021) that a patient who had visited Raffles Hospital on 5 May was diagnosed with covid.

The post said that the hospital is working closely with the Ministry of Health to trace contacts with the patient. The hospital also launched an infection control program, while ensuring that patients are properly cared for and all affected staff are safe.

All employees in the group who had been in close contact with this patient were immediately quarantined and tested for covid.

The group also provides assistance to all employees and requires them to pay close attention to their health. All affected areas have also been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

In addition, Raffles Hospital will also conduct covid testing for all staff to ensure the safety of staff and patients.

Three more unrelated community cases in Singapore, including case in SHN facility

Three of the four new community cases in the local area today (7 May) are not related to known cases, including a patient at the Eye Centre of Tan Tock Seng Hospital and an SHN facility cleaner.

There is no evidence that the patient is related to the infection group of Tan Tock Seng Hospital

According to a statement from Singapore's Ministry of Health, the 72-year-old Singaporean retired man of the 62925th case was sent to Raffles Hospital the day before yesterday (5 May) because of a heart problem. Although he did not show symptoms, he was diagnosed today after being tested for covid.

However, his Ct value is very high, and the serum test result is also positive, so he may be shedding tiny viral ribonucleic acid (RNA) fragments, which is no longer infectious. Since the authorities cannot determine when he was infected, the authorities will still take necessary public health actions.

The old man has been vaccinated with two doses of CCP virus vaccine on 22 February and 15 March.

Due to eye problems, he regularly went to Tan Tock Seng Hospital's Eye Centre for follow-up visits. The last time was on 23 April but he had not been to the affected ward of Tan Tock Seng Hospital. According to the investigation by the authorities, there is currently no evidence showing that he is related to the infection group of Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The authorities are still investigating.

The SHN facility cleaner has been vaccinated yet diagnosed positive

The 53-year-old Singaporean woman in the 62933th case is a cleaner at the Park Avenue Rochester, a designated SHN facility, but her job does not require contact with residents who perform SHN.

She had a runny nose and sore throat when she was about to leave work the day before 6 May. She developed fever the next day and was diagnosed on 7 May.

The result of her last Rostered Routine Testing (RRT) on March 29 was negative, and the serum test results have not yet been released.

She has also received two doses of the vaccine on 24 January and 16 February.

At the beginning of the year, the sea workers who returned from Russia were diagnosed

The 48-year-old permanent resident of the 62894th case is a senior executive of IGWT Pte Ltd. Most of the time he works from home but he needs to board the ship regularly. The last time he boarded the ship was on 1 March.

He had been to Russia between 30 October 2020 and 30 January 2021. After returning home, he fulfilled the home notification at the designated facility until 13 February and the test result received on 12 February was negative.

He was asymptomatic and was diagnosed when the authorities conducted tests on shore workers who had to board the ship. The serum test results have not yet been released.

Pasir Panjang adds new cases to terminal infection cluster

The fourth community case is the 62906th case, a 58-year-old Singaporean man who is currently unemployed. He and the Pasir Panjang terminal driver and national service personnel who were diagnosed earlier are a family, living under the same roof.

He was ordered to quarantine on Tuesday (4 May). He developed chills the next night. He started fever yesterday and was diagnosed on the same day. His serum test result was negative.

There are currently six related cases in the Pasir Panjang terminal infection cluster.

Royal Caribbean urges joint efforts to track people who have close contacts to avoid travel



The Royal Caribbean’s "Quantum of the Seas" cruise ship will tighten epidemic prevention measures in the next three weeks and call on joint tracking applications to show that passengers who may have been in contact with the confirmed disease to avoid travel.

In response to the enquiry of 8world News, Royal Caribbean stated that the company will tighten epidemic prevention measures from now until 30 May in accordance with the government's earlier announcement. These measures include reducing the number of people in gatherings from eight to five, closing the gym, and reducing the maximum number of people in the theater from 250 to 100.

The company stated that it has notified all cruise ship passengers of these new regulations and encouraged them to check the Heli tracking app before heading to the cruise center. Based on the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, the company recommends that the Heli tracking application shows that passengers who may have been in contact with the confirmed disease should observe their health in the next 14 days. If symptoms of acute respiratory infection appear, they should seek medical attention immediately.

Royal Caribbean also called on the joint tracking application to show passengers who may have been in contact with the confirmed disease to avoid travel to protect the safety of other passengers and crew. Those passengers who decide not to travel because the Heli Tracking App shows that they may have been in contact with a confirmed patient will receive a full refund.

8world News reported on 7 May that the Ministry of Health, Smart Nation and Digital Government jointly pointed out that no business should use the information on the joint tracking application to determine whether visitors can enter the relevant place.

Dream Cruises posted a Facebook post yesterday, encouraging the TraceTogether app to show passengers who may have been in contact with a confirmed covid patient, and postpone their travel until after 19 May, for example.

Actual bill for extended SHN quarantine only received within 2 months


According to Union Maids, the actual bills from MOM for maids' extended SHN quarantine at anti-epidemic hotels will only be received in one and a half months' time from 7 May 2021. Employers have to pay upfront and depending on the actual costs, the Singapore government will refund the balance if any.

Employers need to inform maid agencies if MOM has approved their SHN waiver applications. Then, maid agencies will verify with MOM that the full amount of $1800+$875 be refunded if the maid is staying in a Twin-sharing room.

Earlier, MOM emailed to StayGate that maids entering Singapore from 24 April 2021 need to extend their quarantine period for another one week to 15 May 2021, in compliance with Singapore's latest anti-epidemic measures.

Three unrelated cases at Changi Airport, authorities launch special testing operations



Three of the five unrelated cases that appeared locally on 8 May 2021 are working at Changi Airport, and two of them have been vaccinated with two doses. The Ministry of Health will launch special inspections for workers in designated areas.

The 62940th case is a 47-year-old Chinese man who holds a work permit. He is a cleaner under Ramky Cleantech Services and works in the third terminal of Changi Airport.

He had no symptoms and was diagnosed on 7 May after receiving a rotating periodic test this Wednesday (5th). The periodic tests he received on 21 April and earlier turned out to be negative.

He has completed two doses of coronavirus vaccine on February 19. Although the serum test result was positive, the authorities judged that he was recently infected.

The 33-year-old Singaporean man in the 62942 case is a safety coordinator under Shimizu Corporation and is also stationed in Terminal 3, but his work does not require communication with passengers.

He was tested on a rotating basis this Tuesday (4th). He started to have a fever after get off work the next day and was tested after seeing a doctor. The results of both tests were positive. His serum test result was negative.

The 57-year-old Singaporean man in the 62945th case is a security officer working at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, and his job includes checking departing and transit passengers.

He was also diagnosed yesterday after being tested on a rotating basis this Wednesday. The rotating periodic tests he received on 23 April and earlier were all negative.

He also completed two doses of coronavirus vaccine on 4 February. His serum test results have not yet been released.

In view of the recent cases at Changi Airport, for safety reasons, the Ministry of Health will conduct special tests for the staff of Changi Airport Terminal 1, Terminal 3 and Jewel.

The unrelated community case announced by the Ministry of Health the day before yesterday (6th) was also working in the third terminal of Changi Airport. This 88-year-old man is also a cleaner at Ramky Cleantech Services Pte Ltd.

GrabFood food deliverer diagnosed positive

A 40-year-old part-time GrabFood food delivery person who works as an operations assistant at Keppel Logistics Park has been diagnosed with the CCP virus.

The Singaporean man in the 62937 case was an employee of Batamindo Shipping & Warehousing Pte Ltd. The Ministry of Health pointed out that he had never been to Pasir Panjang Pier.

He has no symptoms and was diagnosed on 7 May 2021 after receiving a rotating periodic test on 4 May 2021. The rotating periodic tests he received on 14 March and earlier were all negative.

Although his serum test result was positive, the Ministry of Health judged that he was recently infected.

On 8 May there were seven new community cases in the local area. Pasir Panjane added two more cases to the terminal infection group. The other cases are the same as the 62937th case and are not related to the known cases. Three of them work at Changi Airport. Finally, one is a female student from Victoria Junior College.

VJC student diagnosed, about 2,200 people under covi testing

The 18-year-old female student of the 62941st case developed cold-like symptoms after going to school on 5 May. She developed fever the next day and was diagnosed after seeking medical attention. The serum test has not yet been released.

For safety reasons, the Ministry of Health is testing all students, faculty, suppliers and visitors of VJC, a total of about 2,200 people.

People who have been to T3 on 3 May can be tested free of charge

A new cluster of covid infections emerged at Changi Airport. The public who visited the third terminal on 3 May can receive free coronavirus testing.

There are eight confirmed cases of the Changi Airport Infection Cluster so far working in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 respectively. Five of the cases worked in the third terminal.

The Ministry of Health recommends that the public who have been to the third terminal on May 3 should closely observe their health conditions for the next 14 days.

The Ministry of Health also strongly urged these members of the public to receive free swab testing at regional testing centers or public health prevention clinics (PHPC) under the Swab and Send Home program between 10 and 16 May.

From 10 May, the Ministry of Health will also inform the affected public how to make an appointment for testing via SMS.

Infection cluster at Changi Airport

A cluster of COVID-19 infections emerged at Changi Airport, and so far there have been eight confirmed cases working in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 respectively. Among them, the four new cases working in Terminal 3 are all related to the 88-year-old Singaporean cleaner who was previously diagnosed. Three of them have been vaccinated with two doses.

No. 62971 is a 51-year-old female work pass holder from China. She is a cleaner employed by Ramky Cleantech Services Pte Ltd in Changi Airport Terminal 3, and is a colleague with the first confirmed 88-year-old cleaner in the infected group (case 62873). The preliminary test report showed that she was infected with the B.1.617 covi variant virus, and more verification tests are yet to be carried out.

57-year-old security guard diagnosed

The 62972th case is a 57-year-old male auxiliary police officer from Certis Cisco in the third terminal of Changi Airport, a Singaporean.

His work includes controlling the flow of people and checking passenger documents. Since the onset of symptoms, he has not gone to work. The preliminary test report showed that he was infected with the B.1.617 covi variant virus, and more verification tests are yet to be carried out. He has been vaccinated with two doses.

Symptoms but did not seek medical attention for the first time

The 63015th case is a trolley mover and cleaner employed by Ramky Cleantech Services Pte Ltd, who also works in the third terminal. He is a Singaporean man, 63 years old this year, and an 88-year-old cleaner is a colleague.

He had a sore throat on 3 May and a cough on 6 May but did not see a doctor. On 8 May, he went to the clinic to seek medical advice because of a runny nose, and then he was diagnosed. He was quarantined on the same day. He has been vaccinated with two doses.

66-year-old passenger escort diagnosed

The 63026th case is a 66-year-old Singaporean man who was employed by SATS as a passenger escort at Changi Airport's third terminal.

He began to have a runny nose and sore throat yesterday (8 May). He went to the clinic to see a doctor on the same day and was subsequently diagnosed with covid. He has been vaccinated with two doses.
