In view of the deterioration of the pandemic, Singapore has tightened border control measures again.
The inter-departmental working group issued a statement on 4 May 2021 saying that starting from 11.59 pm on Friday (7 May 2021), all travellers to high-risk countries or regions will extend the number of days for Stay-Home-Notices (SHN) at designated facilities from the current 14 days to 21 days. Those who have not completed the 14-day SHN notification before 11.59 pm on 7 May 2021 must perform another 7-day SHN to reduce the risk of transmission.
Only travellers from Australia, Brunei, Mainland China, New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau who arrive in Singapore after 11.59 pm on 7 May can be exempted from the extended SHN.
At the same time, passengers arriving from the UK, South Africa, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka must complete a 21-day home notification at designated facilities.
Passengers entering from Fiji and Vietnam, if they have not been to other countries or regions in the past 21 days, also need to perform the 21-day home notification at the designated facility, but can choose to perform the last 7 days home notification at their residence.
All travellers who fulfill the 21-day stay-at-home notice must undergo Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) monitoring upon entry, on the 14th day of fulfilling the stay-at-home notice, and before the end of SHN.
The statement also announced that the government will implement border control measures based on the travel history of inbound tourists in the past 21 days, which is 7 days longer than the current 14 days, which will help detect possible virus transmission.
As for passengers entering Singapore through bilateral arrangements such as travel bubbles and reciprocal green channels, it is necessary to determine the number of days for fulfilling SHN based on whether they have come from a high-risk country or region in the past 14 days.
